Extended Figure Delete Times

Anyone encountering extended delete times with complicated scenes. Whenever I get a scene with more than 5 or 6 Genesis or Genesis 2 figures, and try to delete one with the delete key.. it can take HOURS for the figure to be removed from the scene. Even longer if clothing is assigned to the figure.

Is there a better way to do this?
