Confusion about applying punches towards "Best of 2014" items

At the moment, I have 7 punches, and for 5 punches, the text reads "40% OFF featured "best of 2014" items". However, when I open up the page for those items, the majority are not on sale (like the items I actually want), a handful are on sale for 30% off, and only a couple are on sale for 40% off, and adding an item to the cart doesn't change its price. How exactly is this supposed to work?

Nope -- the price stays the same, no discount at all whether an item is just sitting in the shopping cart or whether I'm actually trying to check out. My understanding was that punch discounts applied automatically once milestones were achieved (5 punches, 10 punches, 15 punches), and I'm not seeing it.

Thanks. Unfortunately, now the items I wanted (the "Rock & Grass Shader Bundle" and "Measure Metric") are no longer on the "Best of 2014" list -- in fact, you get a 404 page when you try to call them up. However, as an experiment, I added a different item from the list to my cart, and the discount DID apply.
