Generation 3 shapes for Genesis 2?

I did a search in the store and the Forums, and I didn't see it, so I thought it might be worth the time to ask. I'm back after a loooooong hiatus, and Genesis 2/Studio looks like a better piece of software for it.

Now for the question: I have a pile of stuff for the Gen3 figures, mostly Aiko and Micheal 3, and was trying to get the autofit working to convert some of the old content to Genesis 2. Unfortunately, there don't appear to be shape clones for the Generation 3 figures (or Micheal 4) in the possible support list- just V4, Genesis, and Genesis 2 Male.

Do these things exist, and if so where can I get them? Or if not, are there plans to implement them at some point? I really don't want to have to scrap 90% of my runtime over this.

    Here's http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male

There aren't any autofit clones for the 3rd Gen figures to Genesis 2. You could use http://www.daz3d.com/gen-3-iconic-shapes-for-genesis and/or http://www.daz3d.com/david-3-for-genesis to autofit the clothes to Genesis 1, save them as Support Assets, and then autofit from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2; or you could use something like CrossDresser to convert from 3rd Gen to 4th Gen, and then autofit from 4th Gen to Genesis 2.

Okay, good enough. A3 had some really nice clothes, and it's be a shame for A6 to miss them ;)

Since I have you handy Mike, maybe you can tell me what the differences are between Genesis and Genesis 2 on the technical level, aside from having the Menz and Wimmenz separated again?

Genesis 2 has more polies in specific areas, in particular the face -- I think facial expressions look much more realistic on G2. The meshes for G2F and G2M are equivalent, but each has its own weight-maps. Content creators say that Genesis 2 requires much less in the way of corrective morphs than Genesis 1 did. I still mostly use Genesis 1, as the major species in the fantasy universe I'm writing has much less sexual dimorphism than humans, so the improvements in Genesis 2 are working against me in that area.

That helps, thanks. That'll save me some time, at least.

    Hello DarkSpartan

Another thing which is very useful is Poke Away

I use it both in DAZ3D & Carrara, very highly recommended !!!!!!!

If you have GenX2, the Generation 2 add on, plus the GenX generation 3 shape packs, you can easily transfer all of the gen3 shapes to G2M and G2F. Likewise you can transfer over all your gen 3 clothing (using autofit), and gen 3 characters. What you can not do is transfer the Gen 3 skins. For that you need to use Texture Converter or the like to transfer to a Gen 4 skin, and then get the gen 4 uv products for G2M and G2F. However a PA is working on Gen 3 UV maps, so hopefully soon they will be useable on Genesis 2 directly.

Here are the links to the products needed to transfer the base shapes plus the characters:

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
    http://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-bundle
    http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-gen3-kids

I know it seems a lot of money to get all of the above, but it is cheaper when they are on sale. If you have a lot of gen 3 stuff it is a good investment to be able to use that on the newest figures.

Once the base shapes are transferred you can create auto fit clones of each gen 3 shape on G2M and G2F. This is a non-trivial operation, but quick to do once you know the steps

If you have Generation 3 shapes for Genesis you can make your own clones for G2X without GenX although it would require some manual editing of files here and there.
The whole thread is rather long but here is a tutorial that might be useful
You just substitute A3 Genesis shape instead of V4 Genesis shape. The same process works in general for G2F as well.
