rough start

I just installed DAZ Studio a few days ago, and it is not going well.

I downloaded and installed about 1.9GB of content, but when I run DAZ Studio, I can't seem to find most of it.

Also, when I click on the top menu bar, the pull down menu only shows up for perhaps a few milliseconds and disappears.

Has anyone else experienced these difficulties?

Thanks.

You have to make sure you content folder is added to DAZ Studio in your content manager. Are you installing the content with DIM or doing it manually?

I guess I used the DIM. I'm attaching a screenshot of it.

Also, I'm attaching a screenshot of DAZ Studio where the content does not seem to be there.

Can you be more specific about how I add this content folder to DAZ Studio? I'm not sure exactly how to get to the "content manager" you speak of.

    Thanks.

This is how you add your content folder and where to find your content.

What firewall are you using? Smart Content relies on being able to communicate with the Content Management Service, which some firewalls (notably Zone Alarm) can block. If you go to the Content Library pane and look under Poser Formats and DAZ Studio Formats you may see your content - if so it's some kind of CMS issue, not the installation as such.

I clicked the icon you indicated, but I don't see a Content Directory Manager option after clicking it.

I'm running a program called Avira.

    It says:

The Windows Firewall is using the optimal settings.

Anyhow, I did find the content in the Content Library pane.

Do you think the Windows Firewall is the culprit?

If you go to Edit>Preferences is there a tab labelled CMS Settings half-hidden on the right? Was DS running when you installed the content?

Yes, there is a tab labeled "CMS Settings".

Also, I believe DAZ Studio was not running when I installed the content.

Okay, that tells us it is running and communicating with DAZ Studio.

From the Content Library pane options menu (rectangle with horizontal lines in the upper corner) try Content DB Maintenance > Re-Import Metadata

Okay. There is now stuff there on the left side.

    Thanks for your help.
