"multiple" bending? -- solved --

For things like tails and whips in Studio3 you used to be able to select all the parts of the tail, then in the "Parameters" tab the value slider would say "multiple" and if you moved it, all the parts would bend the same amount. Great for curling and twisting long skinny things made of similar parts.

I can't find a way to do this in Studio4 with (for example) the new Ogora tail or the RawEnergyEffects. I can select multiple parts in the "Scene" tab but changing the parameters only affects one of the selected items.

Is this a lost feature in Studio4 or merely hidden?

Go to the parameter (or whichever) pane's option menu - the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab - and make sure that you have Consolidate Properties checked and Display Separate Items unchecked.

    Thank you!

Well, I tried that but couldn't find the "Consolidate Properties" option. But knowing that there was a needle in the haystack I kept looking and discovered that there are actually several ways to achieve multiple bending. (*blush*)

In both the "Pose" tab and the "Parameters" tab there is a "Select Item" pulldown menu that if you select the root of the bendable item then select the "Pose Controls" option of that item, then the parameters for bending & twisting appear and work on all the sections of the item.

In playing around with this I also found that you can use the "Scene" tab to select multiple segments of the tail and then they show up in the list of items in the "Parameters" or "Pose" tabs and can be selected multiply but the official "Pose Controls" don't appear. However, since the parts are multiply selected, the regular bend, side-side, etc. parameters now affect the multiple selections and again "Ta-Da"!

I'm sure now that there are several ways to get a list of items to apply parameters or poses to. A bit more complicated that the Studio3 way but essentially the same idea. It's like learning to drive using a Go-Kart then taking your exam in a Ferrari. 8-O

In short there was a cluster of needles in the haystack. It's a wonder I'm not a bloody mess. 8-s

The options should be in the pane menu, as here - the settings I have will match the way DS3 worked.

Found it! Though I swear it wasn't there before. So many menus, so little time, ... Ghaaaaaaaaaa :-(
