And I found the items that DAZ chose to "celebrate" it with to be quite offensive. Two evil goat-like beings from European mythology. A "Wukong outfit" that has nothing to do with Sun Wukong. A comical cartoon goat. And whatever a "Storm Queen" is (she doesn't appear to exist in any mythology).
If you did something like that to Christians or Muslims, imagine the outcry.

Chinese New Year is just the first day of the "Rural Calendar". While some may treat it as a time for spiritual observance, the holiday itself has no religious affiliation.
I'm Chinese and I celebrate Chinese New Year by the Rural Calendar, but I'm not offended by this at all.
3DUniverse's Toon Goat is cute in my humble opinion. I don't think anyone intended the sale to be offensive and hope nobody was. I admit the last year's sale was better (draconic freebies and such).

Even wiser words. Symbols have the meaning you give them. Yet I would stay on the safe side and avoid nods to traditions I don't know well enough just to avoid unnecessary irks. But the toon figure is lovely. If a new release that interests me shows up, I will consider grabbing the goat.
And maybe DAZ is just making room for Millennium Goat instead of the long-coveted Millennium Cow? DAZ urban legends :coolgrin:!
Goats and Owls :) are my kin in a totem animal sense and I love all of the goat products offered. I just can't afford them. I'd love to see more and varied goat products as well as more than one older, somewhat realistic Owl product.

I'm an old Goat (Capricorn to the ground) with an Owl and Wolf as my animal spirits or totems.
The theme does not offend me in the least but yea, something more positive like a really cool goat head morphs for the G2M males with hooves ... I don't know.. how about a proper Satyr set up for the G2's with some nice robes and warrior outfits to go along with them?

I second the idea of satyrs or fauns, but DarioFish is an artist you can count on. And he became a PA (see Nastya for A6).
