Looking for lampposts/lanterns

Hi guys,
I've been looking around for some medieval/fantasy (the non-electric kind, basically) lanterns and lamp posts with which to light my fantasy buildings and streets. I'm specifically looking for lamp posts for the streets, although any and all lanterns will be immediately thrown on my wish list for future purchase.
I would very much like to not have to make one myself since it will look horrible, terrible, and no good. The medieval inn I'm making is passable, but compared to the lovely prefab buildings I'll be using to pad out the outdoor scenes, it is a bit plain.
All suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
-C

Try any of the DM products, they usually have light sources like this. Try search by vendor Danie
I have a bunch of D&M sets and none of the ones I have include what Crifmer (and I) are looking for. Danie's modeling is excellent and she includes a lot of lights in her sets, but they're almost all wall-mounted or hanging. I searched around for a medieval street light a while back and never found anything that looked the way I wanted. Hopefully someone can either point us in the right direction or maybe consider making one in the future.
Sorry, to me a lantern is usually a hanging light and there are plenty in the DM sets. If it has to be medieval, then add in a gallows post and hang the lamp from it. Here is a non electric lamp post, look in the editorial section for image

...there's a few freebie lanterns over on Rendo and Share CG that might work.
This is a bit different than a light on a post, it is a lantern hanging out from one. Here it's in a fantasy setting but it could still be used for medieval (they often go together).

This set is by Emma and Jordi and I've used this lantern often. Unfortunately they don't show it off in the promos, though it can be seen in front of the mushroom house in the first one.
Spit, Now that set shows as non-purchasable (unavailable" purchase button).
Now I know another set I got recently included a lantern kind of like that.

There was another possibility I need to look up, that I used months ago on another set.

Neither of these, include the lamp post. If none of the packs you have include just a lamp-post with no light. Look around for one, or try making your own, possibly. Throw a D-form on a primitive or bake up a quick lamp post in Zbrush/Silo/Blender/Nuke/Hexagon/Curvy/etc, and then toss a shader on it.
I hope you can find, or make something, as I would be interested as well. :coolhmm:
It's OK. I'm not entirely sure I could think of a use for that scene with my works, tho it is a good one. And the last time I started tearing the net apart looking for an EJ item, no sooner did I give up and start to type out a plea for that V4 item, it appeared in the store as a G2F item. lol.
In regard to the lantern, I know I have seen items similar at SharCG, tho I must add the grain of salt. I have not tested ANY of them to function in Daz Studio, and I have come across other items made specifically for Poser that the geometry dose not load correctly at all in Studio. So I hesitate in suggesting any of them my self.
Zathras - Can not say. Saying, I would know. Do not know, so can not say.
Yeah, this was for Poser and I discovered as I was playing with it this time (didn't matter in the images I was using it in before) that the material mapping is a little odd. Instead of a separate zone for where the light comes out, the whole lamp part is one mapped zone. Had to trick it a bit by upping light intensity, higher opacity than I wanted, majorly increased falloff end, and reduced shadow intensity. Other than that, the play was fine.
I still like the lantern though.
Cybertenko over at RDNA has two lantern sets. Also check out Mortem Vetus at RDNA.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, something like that. I'm afraid if I tried to make something, it'd be mainly just a straight post, with perhaps a ball or some sort of basic flange for decoration. Not quite as nice as that.
The lantern hanging from a post idea is a good one. I can find a nice staff or column or something and use that, too. Now that I'm thinking about it, that might be the way I go. Time to look through my wish list to see what I want to combine. :)
Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. They were all very helpful.

If you're looking for a lantern hanging from a pole, how about the one in this product:
http://www.daz3d.com/kay-s-lair
You should be able to scale it up to something a bit more more streetlamp-sized than it starts at (and it gets included in V4/M4 sales if you're willing to wait for the next one).
Maybe you should also try searching for gaslamps - which may look olde worlde enough for your purposes, and are the oldest form of standardised street lighting in real life. Before that, where lighting took place at all, people just hung regular oil lamps/candles/lanterns from their houses - or carried (or had carried for them) a light source to help find their way. Mostly, though, they just went to bed when it got dark.
The first one, http://www.contentparadise.com/productDetails.aspx?id=24012 , has a lantern already on a standing pole, more a wooden post. These are by Ravyn and are OBJ only. I vouch for Ravyn's excellent work since I have several items (not this one---yet) and they work fine in Studio. Good quality, detail, and texturing. I love these very authentic looking lanterns. Thanks for posting the link, Taozen.
