Can I export Lisa's Plants to Vue?

Over the years I purchased a large number of Lisa's Botanicals from DAZ - recently I started a serious study of Vue 2014 Complete, and find that there is a significant lack of plants that come with the install.
Rather than spend a lot of money for plants made for VUE, I would like to use the ones I have in my DAZ library...
I went to my Product Library and found the ones I want, and that I can download to the DIM - and I see no way to use those - or as zip files. I downloaded a couple of zips and find the obj files that should be useable in Vue, but there are also some image files in the same folder. Should I load these in the Vue Pictures folder, or somewhere else?
I know these will be static plants, I don't plan on making any animations for a bit... I am planning on buying the Plant Factory at some point, when I can afford it, but for now I just want a fair selection of plants to add to the landscapes - at least while I am learning this new software...at this point that looks to be a long time...

The best way to export from DAZ Studio in OBJ format, using either a scaling value of 1 or 10% depending on how new and what version of Vue you are using. And no I won't be able to say what the scaling should be for you version. You will have to try it. I tested mine using a blank 4 figure and it the scaling was had the figure at around 1.8 mtrs tall then I knew I had it right.

When exporting from DS make sure you check "Collect Maps" in the export window.

    Thanks for the response.

What about the images? Do I just ignore those?

If you checked Collect Maps when exporting then you don't need to do anything. ;)

Well that worked quite well, thank you.

I did have to boost the units a bit...

I don't suppose there is any way to do this as a group of all items at once...?

There sort of is but which setting to choose is something I can't remember now. Basically export of a bunch of plants in one hit and then ungroup and regroup then in Vue, but this can be ore fiddly than doing one by one. What I do is import a stack in to Vue first and then save each one as a VOB.

You are saying that I should load all of the versions in DS, export that as one obj, then save the individual products in Vue...I can see that being an option...

OK...I'll be doing some exploring of the possibilities - I have tried doing a manual download from the Product Library in my account, that gives me a zip which has all of the different variations of a product.

I am wondering if the zipped obj's would be as functional as the "wavefront" obj's exported from DS...I'll try doing some both ways and see if there is a difference.

Also, do the obj's from the zip files include all of the material images?

One problem I have encountered - and gather is not an uncommon one - is that many of the products in DS seem to be missing components...which requires scanning through the list and making note of the missing ones, uninstalling the product, then removing the file in the downloads - and downloading and installing fresh ones. Is there a way to prevent these errors?

Yeah if I wasn't busy with doing some Promo work I would give you a run through on how to export as one and save each one in Vue.

The reason I do this way as 1: a number of products don't supply an OBJ and 2: it sets up the materials path so they load on importing n to Vue.

I don't understand the last bit with missing components, what products?? I do have a lot of Lisa's plants so when this render finishes I can take a look for you. Also many of these plants rely on Poser formatted parts to work in DS so I have to ask did you install the Poser files too?

Well, I really do appreciate you taking time to offer your knowledge, it has shown me the way to do this.

I think that my best approach on this will be to transfer products as I need them, rather than try to do a mass move. That will free me from my usual obsessive need to grab all I can before they "disappear"...:)

As to the missing items, examples would be "Creepy Trees II", Mighty Oak", "Signs of Spring", and Petunia". This issue comes up in other products as well. I'll just have to download them again and see if they install correctly...

    Again, thanks.

My pleasure I am not usually this busy so I am hoping it is a sign of things are getting better. Anyways trust me not to have those products. If the issue continues after reinstalling I would put a support ticket in.

I'll put aside some time to go through and see if reinstalling them works.

I am well aware of having too much to do and not enough time - I am retired...:may have to get a job just to catch my breath...
