The simplest way is just to overdrive the ambient channel, in this example the bright patches are set to 9000%.

A slight request for clarification. I have tried this in the past, tho never with ambient over 100%. I have not seen Studio and 3deling do that, and have the ambient surface emit light to illuminate other surfaces... without adding an actual light for the rest of that effect.

Simple to do for glowing spots, I don't think it would work for that suit, unless it was post-processed in (using Photoshop/Gimp/other after the render).

How did you get the spheres to light up the surrounding like that?

Its the UberEnvironment that provides the light transport mechanism.

That sentence sounds really technical doesn't it?!

OK, so with UE2 going, it dose look at the ambient part of a surface as it is doing it's ray-bounce thingy. The Ambient just needs to be cranked up to an insanely high value, like 9000, to do that.

I have got to give that a try now.

It takes a bit to get use to using it, tho it is very much worth it. That first post is links to other posts in that thread.
    (EDIT)
sorry, it is here (pic by Mustakettu85), and there included with Daz Studio. (Edit, added pic of full path Studio 4.7).
