Skin Shader Question

HI,
I'm just in the process of re-educating myself in the ways of 3Delight after years of rendering with Reality and Luxrender. I was advised in another thread that one essential buy is UberSurface2, so I have just bought it. I'm trying a test render now but have hit a snag.
I selected the character skin and clicked !Ubersurface2 Upgrade. That did indeed change the look of the skin. The G2F character was fitted with V6 Gens so I selected that and tried to apply the US2 upgrade again. This time, nothing happened.
The tag at the top of the surfaces - when I applied to the character skin - changed from AoA_Subsurface to UberSurface2 but the the genitals started with AoA_Subsurface and would not change from that. Am I doing something wrong?
The character has a skin applied called Jennie HD which is supposedly for Belle 6 (which I don't have) but seems to work just as well with any other G2F figure. I guess a follow-up question would be: is there any need to change the shader when the skin already comes with one (the AoA_Subsurface Shader)?

Hey there!
I don´t have this shader, it´s only on my wishlist so I can´t help out much but regarding your second question:
That would depend on whether this shader is actually making the skin look better/more realistic than the AoA SSS shader which I think is the one all the main characters (Victoria, Olympia and so on) come with.
And I can´t answer that because I don´t have it and I never even tried to experiment with the settings of the AoA SSS shader trying to get a more real look so if anybody here could give us an answer (with screenshots comparing the shaders if possible) I´d be very grateful as well!
In the promo images there is an image showing a nice SSS skin but none comparing the two shaders.
That could indicate that the shader does make the skin look better but one never knows.
So, in case the shader does look better and more realistic than the AoA SSS shader, then yes, I´d save the preset once I get the desired look and I´d apply it to my G2F characters every time I wanna render them.
You selected the Genitals as a figure, not just in the surface list?
Yes, both the scene tab and the surfaces tab.
It's working for me, so I'm not sure why it would fail for you.
OK - that's odd. I'll try a reload.
Thanks.
There are no much reason to change from AoA Shader to UberSurface2. Both give you SSS, but to be honest, DAZ Default Shader also gives you SSS, so it is more a personal preference. Someones will say that UberSurface 2 is better, another will say that AoA is the best, I will say that both are better than DAZ Default Shader.
Why better? Because both offers options to fine tune your SSS effect and additionally you get control about fresnel also. I personally like both but I think AoA render a little bit more fast and is less reddish than UberSurface2. All Genesis 2 Figures are using AoA Subsurface Base Shader, so almost every character based in Genesis 2 Female is using AoA. Maybe, you should expend your time learning Subsurface Shader Base as it is basically the standard for skins.
Subsurface Shader Basics tutorial is currently discounted at 70% and to me is a mandatory learning tool to understand and use AoA Subsurface Shader. The Khory tutorial, Introduction to Character Surface Settings is another very useful learning tool and also is currently discounted at 70%.
Thanks for the heads up. I've just grabbed those two tutorials.
