Failure of the DAZ ReadMe system

It's becoming clearer that the way DAZ handles product readmes — only available online instead of being included in the installers like they used to be — just isn't working. I was looking for the V4/M4 Muscle Maps readmes earlier tonight. Okay, check my Product Library page, run a filter, find the items, click on the View Store Page link...

(take deep breath)

Note the SKU number, go to the Product Readmes page...

..and wait...

...and wait...

...and give up eventually because the entire thing just isn't working. The page finally stopped loading, but only the page header appeared.

It's no use being told "just look up the docs wiki" when we can't get at the docs wiki — and when it does work, it's slow as molasses and always has been. Anything up to a minute to show the index page, anything up to a minute to show the selected range, lots of readmes still, after all these years, not updated from the old ArtZone setup...

Incidentally, I was looking up the V4 Muscle Maps readme to see if the long-standing hideously broken displacement settings had been fixed yet. No they haven't, applying the displacement still sets the skin surface min/max values at 14cm. And yes, that does look amazingly ugly with a capital "UGH".

Why the interest in the V4 Muscle Maps right now? Because they're featured so prominently in the recent release of the G2F/G2M Muscularity Morphs, which a lot of people have been waiting for. A bit of re-thinking needed here, methinks. :-S

(And now I'm getting a CloudFlare timeout. I give up...)

They are currently working on enhancements, should be back shortly.

Okay, it is half-faster now (tried twice, once nice and fast, the other time molasses again), but it's just so awkward to use. And after all that, there haven't been any updates since the original DIM compatibility fix. I'm sure the displacement still isn't quite right, my renders don't look quite like the promos, or what I remember of my renders back when I was still using Poser. I think I'll put in a support ticket and see if an update to D|S4 materials is practical.

And there are some missing Readmes and I did contact Daz but just got told to use the item and that I need to have the base product as is noted on the store page ...

I want to know where the files are exactly installed - I want to know when things are updated - I want the Readmes!

I want the Readmes on my computer. Dialup users can't drop everything each time they need to see a Readme :( I can't just connect anytime I want when I need to go online to find something.

The creator of the topic complained about 1 minute load times the other night? I can top that.... I tried to load a Readme too... try 45 minutes for it to load the header and then say it was done :(

I miss the good old days. Readme's were on the computer and could be found in seconds and internet connection and speeds didn't matter. I didn't have to wait for the phone line to be free to find something I needed, and I could look at it instantly instead of spending 20-30 seconds to connect, a few seconds to open the browser, and then 20+ minutes trying to load the pages and waste my precious time (not to mention our limited internet hours each month)
