Pls help! Bot Genesis problem

edited December 1969 in The Commons

I must be missing something? Usually, I load a figure into my scene and then let's say I want that model to look like a witch I would apply the material onto the model. So I've got male genesis in my scene and I've got BotGen All applied, I can see the mat in the scene on Genesis but I need his actual body to be the metal too, his face is showing but it's skin color - I see in props there are mats but when I apply them nothing happens - I thought maybe I had a female mat on the male but I didn't pic Fem mats. I don't know what's wrong! I thought maybe the model isn't really a part of the mat, so I hid the Genesis model then the model is invisible but there is a hole in place of his face. Also a separate issue (i think), the scale of the bot s a bit small for my Genesis model.

You need to go first to Genesis > Materials > Bot Genesis then apply '01_Base_Mat.DUF'

That gives a metallic look to the whole figure

I search for that on my computer and I don't find it.

Content Library > DAZ Studio Formats > [name of content folder] > People > Genesis > Materials > Bot Genesis

I am using Poser 2012 does that make a difference?

Ah, okay, in Poser they should be in Pose > Bot Genesis, but the file list in the readme doesn't include it, so it may be that it was omitted. I don't have the product to check, but see if the PoserCF.zip has any files in Content > Runtime > Libraries > Pose > Bot Genesis, if it doesn't then you'll need to submit a support ticket to get it fixed.

So I see the stuff in several places - I've got a screen shot of the various places. Are they in the right places? Should they be somewhere else?

I'm not sure what you're showing me, they look like 3 copies of the same thing to me. You'll want to go to the Pose library > Bot Genesis and apply BotGen_BaseMat

ETA: Oh, I see, it's installed to both "My DAZ 3D Library" and "Poser Pro 2012" -- that shouldn't matter, as the Data folder is only in "My DAZ 3D Library" -- did you add "My DAZ 3D Library" as a Runtime in Poser?

I use the DAZ3DIM and it installs it. I see it in the pose library inside of Poser but when I apply it to Genisis nothing happens. Here is a picture of it.

I don't know if this thread answers your question http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/51404/

Perhaps ask again in the Poser forum, or ask a mod to move your post there?

I was able to get Bot Genesis working in Poser Pro 2012

Assumptions: DSON Importer for Poser is working

    These products are installed:

    Genesis Starter Essentials
    Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF
    Bot Genesis
    Bot Genesis Poser CF

    Steps to load Bot Genesis:

    1. Load Genesis Male (Characters>DAZ People>Basic Male - Its supposed to work on any Character)
    2. With Genesis selected, load BotGen_All (Characters>Bot Genesis>BotGen_All)
    3. With Genesis selected, load BotGen_BaseMat (Pose>Bot Genesis>Bot Genesis>BotGen_BaseMat)

Notes: You should be able to apply any Genesis character morph to change Bot Genesis shape, but I'm finding your results may vary when using Bot Genesis in Poser. It takes awhile to load the BotGen "clothing" (Step 2), because it's loading quite a few items onto the Genesis figure.

Okay that worked for me! What I was doing was choosing Genesis 2 Base Male from DAZ people instead of Basic Male which apparently didn't work. However, I do get an error when I load the character saying that I am missing bot torso, pmd Is that okay or?

Also how the heck do I get it shiny?

Bot Genesis is designed to work with the Genesis figure. I'm not a Poser user, I abandoned it in favor of DAZ Studio, but I can normal load content and see if it at least loads in Poser. I don't get that error loading Bot Gen Genesis from the Figures folder and don't know what would cause that.

re: Shiny materials. After you apply the material from the Pose folder, does it look like the posted picture? I'm sure mine would look shiner if I increased the lighting intensity.

Yes it does look like your picture. It's dull.

Yeah, I tried to increase the lighting and it does has a matt finish. It doesn't appear the materials are optimized for Poser. You should try and apply a Poser metallic shader. If you don't have any, I'm sure you'll find something at sharecg.com

  • edited December 1969

Would I do that in the materials tab?

  • edited January 2015

Where would that be here? First 2 pics.

I tried a chrome shader from the materials library on the chest but it looked like image 3. It looked more grey.

Unfortunately that is beyond the scope of my Poser capabilities.. Hopefully someone else can assist.

Perhaps you could click on the report button, and ask a Mod to move this thread to the Poser Forum, where you will get more answers?
