In DS4.5+: Content Library > DAZ Studio Formats > [content folder name] > Environments > Architecture > Library > Scenes
In older versions: Content Library > DAZ Studio Formats > [content folder name] > Environments > Architecture > Library > Lights

The 4 sets are Lights, Folding Table Lights, Fireplace, and Table. In DS4.5+ they load with the Scene preloads; in older versions they load separately.

I've got those presets, but shouldn't the lights have lights, so to speak?

Are the preloads not loading with lights?

    No, they don't load.

And when trying to load the light preset for the FIRE! campfire, per the Studio manual:

"When you load a Light(s) Preset it will replace all existing lights in your scene so be careful. If you'd like a Light(s) Preset to add to your scene lights rather than replace them hold down the Ctrl key on the PC or Cmd key on the Mac while loading the preset. This will launch the 'Light Preset Load Options' dialog. In the 'Action' option near the top of this dialog you can choose whether or not to replace all of the lights, only the selected lights, or to simply add the lights from the preset to your scene without replacing any existing lights."

There is no dialog box that opens when holding down the Ctrl key.

What is the file type of the preset?

For The Library lights, I don't know. The preset doesn't load. For the FIRE! Campfire preset, it's *.lt2.

By the way, thanks for your help.

.lt2 are poser lights, so it won't have the Ctrl option and probably won't look good in DAZ Studio anyway.

What happens when you try to load the Library presets? Are there error messages.

I took a look at this issue and the presets for the lights in the DSON core installer are just loading the light models - lamps and fireplace. It appears the four light presets in .daz format included in the Legacy installer were omitted from the DSON core installer. I downloaded the Legacy installer and manually installed the "Lights" folder into my Content Library, more specifically Environments>Architecture>Library - a folder chosen for my convenience.

The lights align up perfectly with the lamps and fireplace. Note there are no light presets included for the five ceiling chandeliers. I added a point light to the first chandelier, and adjusted the bulb's surface ambient color and strength channels to give the appearance of a lit bulb.

    edit: comment rephrased

Should I file a problem ticket to have a .duf compatible version of the Legacy light presets added to the DSON core installer, or was the omission intentional?

Was the omission of the DAZ Studio light presets included in the Legacy installer intentional or were they accidentally omitted when the DSON installer was created? Purchasers shouldn't have to download the 200 mb Legacy installer just get the light presets if they are using a DSON compatible version of DAZ Studio.

When it was originally uploaded, it pre-dated DS4, so essentially Legacy DS and Poser support. Given the lights need to be recreated (rather than simply just resaved) it's a little more work, so a job for me I presume.

So yea, will add that onto my to-do list ;)

To all who have helped so far, thanks.

I had this same problem with the Sacrament. I placed new lights manually, and it worked fine. It's frustrating that I spend a lot of money at DAZ, update to the latest DS, and my previous purchases have hiccups. But I manually loaded the files from the Legacy download, and finally found them, and they seem to work.

Yea, all legacy lights will work fine in DS4+ :)

Basically load up the DS3 lights, the load in the DS4 replacements, then position, etc.. and then save out in DS4.

Sweet, now if you can just UV this set, texture another and sort my accounts for December out you've got the job!

    (thanks!)

This one, doesn't.. but I have plenty that do.. and you're auditioning for the role of intern at the Jack Tomalin towers :D

Well considering many of your UV mapping is projection mapping I can't see it being a problem. Texturing is a different ball game though. :)

It's a little more involved actually, sadly.. but if you fancy a challenge give Sacrament a whirl and let me know how you get on with UV mapping that :)

LOL nice challenge but if it has already being UVed so not much of a challenge but I will have a play.

Jack - hoping I didn't get you in trouble. I love your products, and you're a master craftsman with architectural elements. I've attached an highly downsized image I did with your Sacrament, rendered with LuxRender through Reality.

Another question - is it possible to change the light settings of the light pre-sets? I can't find any of them in the parameters tab. Again, thanks to all for your help.

Side note, my Christmas card this year took six weeks to render in LuXRender with my 16 thread machine. But it's spectacular.

Wish I would have seen this yesterday after I spent hours recreating new lights. But, in testing, I can't get the light set to work anyway. I get an error message each time, something about directories. Even though it is in the normal content directory, right with the scene.

Hmm, sounds weird - and without seeing the error message its difficult to narrow down any further.

That said, the new DS4 lights will be sent to QA today, and hopefully added into the DS installers ASAP. :)

Very, very cool render.. and even more impressive render time :)

Yes, you can change the settings for the lights, select one or more, then under the surfaces tab you will see them (since they are uber lights, they are there, and not under the parameters tab where they'd normally be)

Finally - no, of course you didn't get me in trouble.. though the wife would argue I'm always in trouble, so it's business as usual ;)
