Which software and models were used to make these videos?

Can anyone help me figure out which software was used to create these videos? The key points being the dance animations are syncing to the beats and secondly, the frozen, captain america etc character models and the backgrounds.

It could be Miku Miku Dance, a free Japanese program used to animate "vocaloids" (virtual idols). Finding an up-to-date version and some of the non-vocaloid characters can be tricky though.
You might want to look into Gary's Mod (search for it on Steam games) or the Source Filmmaker (http://www.sourcefilmmaker.com/), both also free. Those require quite a bit of learning, but they're great for animation or still shots of video game character models (non-commercial only of course).
Thanks Snow I think you are right!
I had thought about Miku Miku but decided it was not that since I thought they had only vocaloid characters, but on searching I found the Frozen characters for it just now!
I'm checking out Gary's mod now!
could also be Live Animation which imports MMD characters, also Japanese
Ah, that's good. MMD apparently isn't very hard to learn, but an experienced user once told me that the community is not very friendly these days. There should be a lot of tutorials floating around, some on deviantArt too.
Now that I think about Gary's Mod, you probably won't need that. It's more like a 'sandbox' game than a movie making tool, although it can be used for that too. I've seen incredible things done with Source Filmmaker, but I don't know exactly what models it supports.
Good luck!
Now if only there was a way to convert from MMD animations to Genesis animations... something which has continually proved a monumentally difficult task. Shame too, because there are some incredible dances available through the MMD format which I'd love to implement into a full animation.
