File>Save would probably work for Carrara, but in general you want File>Save as>Scene Subset so that you can merge the file into other scenes (using the default behaviour - double-clicking a Scene file clears the current scene, double-clicking a Scene subset merges it into the current scene).

carrara can read a subset, i would imagine

Yes, I just meant that there's probably no great advantage to the subset and since it's a sub-menu and then opens a dialogue it involves a bit more effort that a plain scene file.

ctrl 'G' will group a number of different items (and then you can change the name of the group, as you like).

After grouping, you can drag and drop into your 'Objects' tab as it's own object all together, for any future use.

    thanks.

i'm going to watch the whats new in 8.5 mp4s, see if it explains anything about genesis uvswapping and morph projection.

Sorry, I know you asked about UV sets before and how to apply, I was too busy at the time to answer and was hoping someone who uses Genesis more often than I do would give a detailed answer, but I did have to figure this out when I first was installing and using Genesis in Carrara as well. You can find the UV presets under the Content tab in your 'My Library', 'People', 'Genesis', 'Materials', and finally 'UV Sets'. Applying is a matter of selecting the actor of your Genesis and dragging and dropping the UV preset you want onto it. For me, it was important to preserve my V4 characters that I liked, so I had purchased the V4 Corrected UV then had to figure out how to make it actually useable, which was how I first got exposed to this.

I find I need to save autofitted clothes as support assets to use in carrara even if saving a scene with a fully dessed figure
actually this applies to DAZ studio a lot of the time too as reopening old scenes the auto fitted clothes can sometimes be borked if not saved
