Well this is sad news. I've never watched RWBY but I've always had a great deal of respect for artists who take advantage of available technology to create art that would have been financially impossible in the past.

Here's the announcement at Rooster Teeth: http://roosterteeth.com/news/entry.php?id=5448468

This bit is the most important, IMHO:

As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.

And Monty really promoted 3D-art, but subtly. I've lost track of how many times I watched RWBY and thought "hey, I've got that in my runtime!"

It's a shame he had to go from an allergic reaction. Get yourselves tested, folks...

So sad. I discovered RWBY only recently, and fell in love with it. I admired the work I saw him create before I knew about the Poser connection.

I've been a fan of Monty's work since his incredible Dead Fantasy series. It's actually quite shocking to learn the man has passed away, especially since we're the same age almost to the day. His work was an inspiration to many, not least of all to me. It goes to show how fragile life can be at times, and how important it is to make the most of each and every day.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that RWBY was cancelled after an announcement like this, but I hope they find a way to continue it. I imagine Monty would have wanted the same. It was his baby after all.

My son was a fan of his and he told me of his passing. Very sad in one so young.
