Too true...have you any idea what causes an item to shrink when weightmapped? I tried doing a skirt for her and it shrank...

Your suit sounds fantastic...I would imagine it requires some very good morphs and rigging.

Not for nothing we say someone looks sharp in a suit  ..but the rigging is really the secret here to get it right and so far tests looks great ..just taking my time with it

@Mec4D, how is the work going on the Miami Vice suits?  I seem to remember you said something about a problem.  Did you solve it?  I hope it isn't too much trouble for you...after all, you're giving this stuff away!

Oh, that sounds real exciting! I've skipped some of the other suits because of their doughy, rounded, puffy appearance. A well tailored suit is crisp and angular. I'm looking forward to seeing how you're pushing the technology forward. yes

If you model the skirt on a character and not base genesis you need to use reverse deformation while rigging other way it will change the scale or shape you find it under Transfer Utility , also if the skirt model was adjusted in DS before rigging it will change back to original position .

It was modeled and fitted in ZBrush...sent via the bridge and fitted when it loaded in DS. When I used the transfer utility it shrank...I haven't had this problem with things previously. So I wasn't sure if it was something new due to the new rigging. Or something I need to do in terms of modeling for Gen3...

I never had problem like that before , but it maybe have to do with the skirt template under Transfer Utility and the topology of your skirt , if this problem persist , after rigging send both genesis and skirt back to Zbrush via GOZ  (send with deformation ) fix the poke of the skirt in Zbrush and send it back to DS and at import choice (Update Geometry only ) it will replace the old , after that you can save the new skirt and problem solved .

If you model on V7 make sure the reverse deformation is selected under Transfer Utility  , also model clothing for genesis base only never on subdivided genesis or it will not fit .

Thanks for the help Cath! I'm wondering whether I remembered to lower genesis to the base level, that might be what happened. I'm pretty good about remembering to do it for morphs but wouldn't have thought about it for clothing.

Carrara and I finally decided on a design, so... First peeks!

I'll model a belt and a clip on the back of the device for Genesis 3 before I run this out to folks. The question will end up being how detailed the mesh will be as opposed to displacement. I'm a lot better at modeloing than I am at mapping, so finding the balance will be the important bit.

Also, what features should there be? Radio? EQ? Other random fun?

Oh, believe me, I am not trying to rush you!  It's amazing the things you are thinking of for this suit.  Other modelers will be jealous of your creation!  I just was afraid that I missed it or you gave up on it.

    Yes, yes it is.

But that outfit already has spots that one can parent the device to so she can wear it while she's running or biking-- which are the most common times to use one. During aerobics, especially the high-impact variety, there's too much chance it's going to get damaged. wink

All the early ones had that, after all... It'll require some spiffy texture work, though, as the idea of modeling the interior of one of those things in its entirety from memory is rather... Daunting. Right now, I'm trying to get the mesh assembled in such a way that it has a door.

Although just by saying that, I've dated myself rather badly.

Oh God, all those little pins and moving parts. Blech. Maybe it would just be easier to add a window [material zone?] on the door and then tell users that, if they want to put a tape inside, they could download one, then scale it and position it. Squealing and griding noise when the rewind gets to the end of the tape not included. :p

Are you planning to make just the tape player, or are you including the el cheapo headphones with very thin foam covering too? No pressure...I'm just curious because I remember how uncomfortable they were and how I always ended up purchasing a lrger and more padded pair of headphones that didn't pinch my ears.

Well, now!  With that kind of commitment to quality I'm tempted to insist that you put it in the store in stead of here, so I can pay you for it properly!  Nothing says 3Derp quite the way tissue-tube trouser legs do, and properly bending and wrinkling pants are hard to find!

That depends. If I want to be annoying, I can point people to Valandar's Headphones kit in the store. Making the headset wouldn't be that difficult, nor the 3/8ths plug... The bit in between will be a major pain to get rigged.
