Ok, promised you I would post a render when I had the time to work on this, Cath.

Sorry for the link instead of the pic itself, but the forums do not allow this size.

Farsight is a form of magic that allows you to see further then what is normally possible, used here by an elf that is wearing your Mullet and I also used the watermark you kindly shared with us. :)

    Hope you like it.

    Awesome Cath! I'm so glad you can get a bit of a rest, I'm sure your workstation is happy to get a break too. (;
  • scathascatha Posts: 756

I hope your workstation's 'break' is a temporary one, but you earned a day off in any case.  :)

Sorry to hear that.  Hope the rollback to Win 8 goes smoothly for you.

Ouch, new operating systems aren't always a progress, in many cases I never upgrade until the first service pack is released and all my drivers are updated for the new OS.

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,249

I hope it goes smoothly as well hon.  I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.  You were one of the reasons I upgraded, you made me feel safe with all the  info you posted and then this happens.  I'm sorry and here's hoping 8.1 will be the cats meow for you until 10 is better fixed up.  I'd still contact MS about this stuff, you paid for your ugrade disk, you should get tech help.  XOXO

I don't care what anyone says...that has got to be a driver issue, Cath.  Yeah, supposedly the Nvidia drivers are in sync with Win10..but what about all the other dirvers (chipset/motherboard, audio and network...) all of them need the Win10 versions for best performance.

...yeah seems around the baord, software "upgrades" are causing some of us grief.  Upgraded to FF ver 29 the other day, and this morning found all my saved passwords were wiped out. A total pain as I am dyslexic and have trouble remembering cryptic things like that. Now I have to go through password recovery/change each bleedin' time I log onto a site. For those which ask for the previous password when changing it, I have to email site admin to get a temp password to login and setup a new one.so it can be saved again.

Updates should enhance, not detract from the user experience.

Cath, hope the rollback to 8.1 goes well. Still mulling the idea moving to it myself (even though 7 works so well for me) as it would at least give me another three years of security support since it appears the Daz - Linux compatibility will most likely never occur, and unless I win a lotto, going to Mac OS is out of the question.

Yeah, everything else working fine just my cards not and I am sure it is Nvidia driver and cuda issues , plus as menioned my motherboard don't have all new drivers yet however it should not affect the problem I have as separatelly each card working fine just not when used together what is typical Nvidia cuda issue .. can't wait any longer if I had one card I will be fine but that is waste of my investment, but no problem I will have running my system again tomorrow and missing not much , my workstation use just couple of programs so I don't need direct12 or other fancy menu and I am going to keep it this way until my program will support win8.1

the main issue was that, when using one card it render in 7 sec, when using 2 cards it rendered in 13 sec when adding CPU on top it rendered in 27 sec so total backward lol  only interactive mode was working correctly but direct light mode is not what I need for tests as it does not support all shaders .. well wasted one week hoping for better tomorrow .. no time for waste anymore

some of the critical driver of my mother board was updated by MSI and working just fine.. it is pure Nvidia cuda issue and win10, I am not alone, a lot of people with more than one Titan X experienced slow down of the cards even when playing games , the power consumption incrased with direct12 leaving less power for the GPU too not to mention fans than need more power too to cool the GPU so total mess . Right now my card runing 29-32 C on driver from April, with the last one  they  get hot yesterday to 86C doing nothing , I was scary to leave my PC alone as I don't want my GPU to land in trash ..  so no question it is messy Nvidia driver in this case

and tomorrow I am back to normal until they fix all the thing.. I guess they need 12 months to make it stable and I am going to ask for refund for my win10 core as it does not working for me

hmmm, sounds like something that NVIDIA should be addressing then....

  • I'm sure Nvidia will release updated drivers within the next few weeks.

I have an older GTX 460M in this Windows 10 laptop and it renders just fine so far.  But then my renders are simple because I already have too much clutter in my life.  cheeky

I had a perfect running machine , it was a big mistake and waste of time and I blame myself for being so stupid , so today going back and problem solved , I still have my all older drivers too so no biggy , I don't want to get frustrated anymore as nobody will take responsibility for my damaged GPU with bad drivers , I don't take the chance , I like to have my system tuned to perfection so I can enjoy my work in place of monitoring temperatures and have 1000 dollar LED inside my tower for decoration . What the sense of having direct X 12 if the cards running half the speed they was before ?  is that improvement ?  the major problem is that the support don't know yet what the problem is guessing blind and with the time they will find the issue for sure, but I don't have that time so until everything is running smooth I taking step back .. so I can continue my work in peace :)

I stopped using Iray altogether after it killed my 570GTX card.. Knowing the age of the card and all but still it was working fine up until rendering one scene and this was working in Windows 8.1 mind you.. Came back to find the screen had shrunk and when I restarted the machine I was getting red pixels everywhere during bootup so I knew the card was toast.. I got a newish card a friend sent me a 650GTX TI but I am not game to play around with Iray don't want to kill this card as well..

They say the best things in life are free(bies) and it looks like someone agrees with me ;-). Look at the closing image featured at DAZ's Iray presentation for NVIDIA at SIGGRAPH this weekend. The 80's love is everwhere! LOL

Damn... Nice work, you two :)

I need better human skin shaders... Actually, I need to learn the Shader Mixer so I can build skin for packaging.

Thanks, no no names but they put names on the pictures  , it was more general presentation about users and PAs and what they do as community so not specific users work ..  Not impressed by the  presentation , not really convincing  , lack of passion and little boring ..but what you expect if people talking about other people work not knowing how it was made . lol
