I recall you once mentioning that your were working on a Wood Shader pack, is that still lurking around on an old pc unfinished?

  • DoctorJellybeanDoctorJellybean Posts: 8,724

Poor MEC4D, with all the unfinished stuff coming out of the woodwork, MEC4D may start to wish she is still away on honeymoon laugh

It is good to see you back!

...I hope  the Bobby Uniform is G3 compatible and conforming.  Some of us don't have the latest hardware and running dForce sims is like watching paint dry.

  • MEC4DMEC4D Posts: 5,249

I played yesterday with the hair, so much the same as the Zbrush , actually the same settings works exactly, however no way to make the same product like Unshaven, I will have to make 50 hair style separately and editing it to get the unique look in the render will not working  as you can't merge them in one I think . But for the scalp hair or fur, very nice

Dforce need welded model clothing, so I need to see what is that all about and how I can use it.

    Thanks Wendy

once you get back into the flow I think you will totally own Dforce and hair with dforce as you already rock with the fibermesh yes

I lost all my scans, the HD got corrupted , but I have new mobile 3D scanner, going to make type of shaders as they have at MEGASCANS from now on from all type of surfaces .I want to create stuff you can add to the HDRI environment and have realistic results blend the figures better into the scenes .

It is rigged already for G3 , so definitely  , no DForce for this type of clothing , no needed at all in this case as it is full uniform with shoes included as one figure  .Only the helmet and accessories are separate

Setting up Time Square NYC HDRI and made some tests with the 3D cars in front and 3D Cherry trees , I have like 3-4 different angles of this location , it was done in early hours as I did not wanted the sun and shadows cover half of it , it would be limited

For the first time I noticed the advertising on the floor , never paid attention to that , too many people there always , but not this time

you can use Dforce on Fibermesh from Zbrush curves too apparently

I don't know the details because I am not a PA and the tool to make it Dforce curves is PA only

  • MEC4DMEC4D Posts: 5,249

That's great , it would solve many problems with posing , thanks Wendy

I did nit go into PA forum yet to check all the new stuff

Mec4D, pardon me for asking, but did you ever finish the London Bobby products, or did that project get lost when you encountered some computer difficulties?

  • MEC4DMEC4D Posts: 5,249

I have the project , it was on my other HD backup with all Zbrush and clothing projects I just checked this afternoon , I think I also finished all texturing and rigging , just need to be proper packed with new iray shaders as well, it was almost done back then

No problem, I will mess with it tomorrow , I still looking for the so called wooden ( Nightstick ) lol  I will have to make a new one in Zbrush , I found the Lamp as well ( never mind it just showed up)

I only missing now the Helmet Diffuse map but not big deal I sill have the reference of the boiled wool fabric .

Just adding some renders so others know what we talk about .  I think the Streets of London set would get well with that

I'm glad you are back and doing well. I'm using your G2M beard right now on something I'm working on, a 3d version of Trent Lane from the Mtv cartoon "Daria".

My power. supply just giving up on me yesterday, my workstation in stand still until Wednesday angry

maybe I switch to my oldie one for a while , so can finish some work in packing stuff

Everything started with DAZ Central and last DS version , and now it Is death, not enough volate to my Vcore , it getting bellow 0.900v and shut down everything .

    Oh, dear!

Though it might just be a blessing in disguise… DazCentral was designed for newbies, essentially for those people who find DIM intimidating.

If you have been using DIM without issue, there really is no reason to change to DazCentral, and folks who have been using DIM and then tried DazCentral found it caused issues with their custom paths and such.

However, I suspect the power supply was just waiting for an inopportune moment to "cry havoc and let slip…,"  not exactly dogs, but defintely "war!"

(I think you're going to love the new DS…!)

I was looking for new the DS version, then the button pop up, stuff opened and so I got the bad stuff lol. I was informed yesterday about my mistake already

well I started my 5 years old Gigabyte PC, I put one of my Titan X card inside (it have dedicated graphic card ) ( it don't have 24 lanes processor so can't handle all the cards or enough RAM   , installed the new DS version via DIM and boom, it working , I can even move fast without issues in the preview, no drag or anything like I never left my prime PC , how surprising , I could never do that with just 1 card like that before , the final test render was 12 second , compared to 2 seconds with the 4 xTitans , but it is still fine , I can finish my projects and when have to render a lot of previews my old workstation would be already and  fine again , problem solved,  happy again .

I was for too long out in the bushes, lol  time to catch up on new stuff , that including Zbrush, PS and DS , too many goddies to explore

..yeah, finally got a Titan-X myself and the difference is amazing, particularly given the struggles I had with Iray CPU rendering.

  • MEC4DMEC4D Posts: 5,249

After testing my PC found that it was not the PSU, it was my MOBO that give up on me , I am not ready or willing to upgrade to RTX , maybe in 2 years

however I found out yesterday that 2 Titans X render faster in last DS 4.12 version than 3 or 4 in 4.9  especially if you have graphic card on board and use the GPU just for the rendering .

I removed the other 2 and keep them just in case the other fall.

    You know that using 4 cards don't give you the additional 100% rendering power, only smaller % , 1 card 100%, second 50% , 3rd- 25% etc

I run the 2 cards now on PCI-e x16 and the new DS 4.12 have amazing speed and smooth viewport.

The Titan series are made for rendering and deep learning and not for games as all the others so it will last longer , good choice Kyoto kid

When I build my rig in 2016 I was advised by Nvidia to use Titan serie cards for best result with iray not only because of higher vram and having additional minimum system RAM for each card , like 1 card at last 16GB , 2 cards 32GB etc. and most important having card with the same architecture and not mixed up Maxwell with Pascal etc, people are still fixed on the cuda cores count but that don't matter, the slowed card will always downgrade and slow down the fastest card and a lot of other stuff that need to be put together to make it works like enough CPU lanes etc.. and enough PSU power and proper cooling for long lasting GPU
