DAZ Gritty & Winter Shader Products not working

Hi.

Well, after years of using Daz Studio and reading these forums on a regular basis, I'm making my first post. I am using the latest version of Daz Studio, 4.8.0.59.

If anyone has any ideas other than I what I've already tried (outlined below) please let me know.

I have two Shader Products, Daz Gritty Shaders and Daz Winter Shaders which refuse to work no matter what I do. When I say they won't work, here's the problem I'm having:

1) Some of the shaders in each packet will apply correctly, although most will either not apply at all, or crash the program.

2) Those that don't load may "half" apply, meaning only the normal maps load to the model (in this case a flat primitive plane), but the diffuse, bump or other textures neither apply nor show up in the Surfaces Tab.

3) Some simply do nothing except turn my model white.

4) None of the combination shaders which come with each of these sets will work at all.

5) In most cases, I get an "unable to locate file" message when attempting to apply the combination shaders.

6) If I point the program to the appropriate file, then the shader preset applies white, and also renders white, whether I render with 3Delight or Iray.

7) If I click "stop asking," then some semblance of the shader may apply, but it usually just crashes the program.

I have a similar set, the Daz Historical Flooring Shaders, but they all work as intended, including the combination shaders.

I've tried all the conventional troubleshooting and application methods. I've tried double clicking the shader icon and applying directly to a selected surface. I've tried holding down CTRL and using both IGNORE and REPLACE. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the products. I've tried installing manually and with the Install Manager. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the CMS and DAZ Studio.

So, needless to say, I'm at a loss. Has anyone else had any similiar problems with these products and came up with a fix? Or does anyone have any general ideas on what else I can do before opening a support ticket?

Thanks,

Dave H

  • Assuming these are from the DAZ Store, did you install manually or with the Install Manager?

They are from the DAZ Store. I've actually installed and uninstalled them both several times using both methods. The issue persists no matter how the content is installed.

I've just tried these, and some don't work for me either.

I'll leave it to you to put in a ticket to get them sorted as I'm just about to go out..

Thanks Wendy. I'm actually on my way out to work right now myself, so I'll send in a ticket tomorrow. I was thinking that some other folks out there might be facing the same problems but aren't aware of it yet. It's easy to buy something on sale knowing you won't be using it for weeks, or even months down the road. It's been a few weeks for me since I picked these up.

If anyone else owns these and haven't tried them yet, you might want to do that.

An update on this post: I submitted the Support Ticket and they discovered the same issues. Good news, they are on top of it (Thanks Angie) and I'll update here once I have more info.

  • Did these ever get fixed? I'm having similar issues. Are they not supposed to work in Iray at all either?
