black render in nvidia iray

Hi. I'm moving my first steps in this new daz sw. In a simple scene, a preview window rendered with the "normal" render engine is fine, but when I try to render a portion of the scene with iray I obtain a black screen (I have a gtx 770, with 2GB, see attachment). Where am I wrong? Thanks for the help

What lighting is in the Scene?   It would help to see your render settings for Iray, for example, under Environment > Environment Mode, have you tried changing it from Dome and Scene to Scene Only, or some of the other options?

  • Thanks for the quick reply. I tried  some other option, same results. Certainly I need to learn more about iray, but I would know if the issue is some technical detail I don't meet (such as video memory and so on). If not, any other idea?

I had the same problem, just now.

My render setting was dome. And, the camera was inside a room.
I must need its own shining source of light at a right angle, and change to "scene" instead of dome and scene, or dome.

DAZ should preview the after-render estimate of what it looks like... I waited 18 minutes lol.

You just answered your own question — "Dome" means the light is coming from the Environment dome, which is outside everything in the scene. The room walls are stopping any light from getting inside to reach your camera.

Note that, even if you do have windows in the walls, and they're placed to catch sunlight coming in from outside, the inside of that room is still going to be very dim; and the default exposure setting is for a bright sunny day. Outdoors.
