Auto posing?

Hello,

I've seen it with other content but I can't find out how the vendors do this,  searching the forum didn't help. Saving it as an wearable isn't it.

How do I save clothing so that the Genesis (3) figure automatically snaps into the right pose after adding the product to the scene?

Till now I know only what everybody knows, the artist/customer has to add the right pose with an extra step to the Gen figure as all starts out at zero.

But I have seen the Gen figure do that automatically...but...how???

It drives me slowly crazy, thank you for any help.

If you use a wearables preset there's an option to save the wearer's pose (note that the clothing must be parented to the wearer, not just fitted, for this to work).

  • Thank you for your answer!

But no, that doesn't work. The heel is fitted and parented but the parenting option is still grayed out at saving as wearable preset.

If I highlight both, the Gen figure and the shoes, the option smart parenting is available but it saves the whole Gen figure not the shoes....something small error I must keep doing but

    I can't figure it out! :(

A wearbles preset will parent the items it loads. Perhaps you could explain what you are wanting to do in a bit more detail.

    Hello again,

I modeled and conformed a pair of heels to Genesis3Female...so far I'm happy. But even with the heels saved as figure/prop being "fit to" and also parented to the figure, with both in the right pose, the heels load still always only in the zero position the original Genesis figure is also in.

Now the customer has to go the extra way of applying the intended foot pose to the Genesis figure and the heel follows then of course, so far so good. But I've seen heels from vendors where the the Genesis figure automatically assumes the right foot pose the moment the heels are loaded into the scene, cutting out the step to extra apply the foot pose to the Genesis figure. I would like to achieve that too.

I tried saving the heels as wearable and even as hierarchical pose preset, but I keep doing things wrong...because nothing works. There must be a trick....

Thank you for your patience! :)

Do you have G3F selected when you do the Save As or the shoes?

For saving as figure/prop asset I have only the heels selected of course.

But trying alot of other things I also tried selecting both as wearable, Genesis plus heels, with changing the order. But even when I select the G3F first and the heels second neither works.

To save as a Wearable Preset you should have just G3F selected.

Are you going to the pose tab in the options dialogue and enabling it, then using the tree to select the foot and toe bones (presumably) for inclusion?

You should ahve several tabs at the top of the dialogue - click the right-pointing white arrow in the back-to-back pair at top-right and see if that brings up the other tabs in sequence. Or have you customised your colours? That dialogue should have a darker bar across the top, it looks as if you may have made that colour the same as the colour of the inactive tab labels which is hiding them.

    Hello,

your tip helped. I didn't see at first any other tabs beside "Wearable" but when I move the pointer on the field besides other possibilities spring up like "Pose", or "Shaping" and "Other. These are otherwise invisible and I just didn't knew about them. Maybe it's a bug? Or really a color problem, I customized the workspace abit...

Anyhow, now I could save it like the Pro's, thank you all! :)

Yes, if you customised the colours I suspect you set the colour used for tab bar backgrounds to the same as the colour used for background tab labels - hence not seeing them.

  • I will never forget that possibility ever again! :)

    Thank you again!
