3 Questions on "Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: Michael 4"
I'm reading the promo info on this product, and I'm very interested because I do own many Michael 4 textures. It says in the promo, See the documentation for fuller instructions.
Question 1: But I don't know how to get to the documentation other than to buy the product. Is there a link to where I might read the documention?
Question 2: It also says in the promo UV support and an additional geograft for the Anatomical Elements is also included. I'm assuming these elements would be the M4 gens. Correct?
Question 3: It says the M4 material files must be in .duf format. Here's what may be my stumbling block in deciding to buy the product: I don't know how to transfer .pz3 files or .mc5 or .mc6 files into the .duf format. Is this included in the product? Or, is there somewhere I could read about how to do this? (It has to be simple, or I won't understand it.)

3 Apply the materials to Michael 4 (if you have him) or Genesis, then File>Save as>Materials Preset to create a .duf format preset you can use on Genesis 3 Male. This requirement is not unique to these tools - it's also needed to apply legacy materials to Genesis 2 using the alternative UV sets.
#3....it's actually pretty easy, but requires the use of a 'real' M4.
Load M4, apply the 'Poser format'/non-duf material file and go to File >Save As > Material Preset.
That will save it in the duf format.
You could also use the original Genesis figure...but, as Richard posted in another thread, it will be missing the eye surface material in that preset.
#2...yes.
#1...not sure.
Thank you, both, Richard and mjc1016, for answering. I think I'm beginning to understand. I have read everything in the link supplied, and also read the user.pdf.
Well, the texture has to be applied to the figure, so if you apply an mc6 file and nothing gets applied, then it wouldn't work.
All the mc6 files I've tried to apply to things didn't seem to apply anything. Maybe that's because everything was in the Poser shader tree and I think that gets ignored it Daz Studio.
No, it's because the surface names on Genesis 2 and 3 aren't the same as the ones on V4/M4/Genesis 1. The DUF format has a feature called surface sets that allows alternate "aliases" to be used, but other formats don't have that capability, not even older DS formats.
But I could load an M4 with all the textures already applied, whether they were .mc6 or .pz3, or whatever, right? And then Fifle>Save As>Materials Preset. That should work, should it not?
Yes, that's correct.
