Not able to get lights to work or look right... Daz 4.9 with Iray

Hello all.

I am very new to using Daz 4.9...   I have normally used Poser and Lightwave as my pipeline.  But with Iray, I really like what I see and want to give it a chance.

I have attached a sample scene...   I'm trying to use a simple spot light...   I wanted some automosphere/Volume effect to the light.  So I purchased the "atmosphere" camera and have added it to the scene as the main camera.

Neither the light or any volume effect is showing up on my Iray render.  Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I'm not getting any light from the spot light.  Seems the light is coming from some random source outside the room.

I'm currently using Daz 4.9 and my OS is Wind10 64bit

The external light is the default HDRI environment, if you want to remove that go to Render Settings and in the Environment group set Environment Mode to Scene Only. You will then need to adjust the Tone Mapping settings, and with only one light you will be likely to have difficulty getting rid of noise.

Judging by your screen shot you bought http://www.daz3d.com/atmospheric-effects-cameras-for-daz-studio which is a 3Delight shader set, it won't work in Iray; you can ask for a refund if that is what you have and you don't wantt o render in 3Delight. This set is for Iray and may be worth looking at http://www.daz3d.com/atmocam-for-iray

  • Thanks for the tip Richard...   Like I mentioned, I'm very new to Daz...   That makes a lot of sense cause I could only see the beams of light when rendering in 3Delight and not Iray.

Well, I'll probably keep the the atmo camera.   But yes...   I want to do Iray renders so, the other product you mentioned I'll give it a go.
