How to make Veins show up????

I have several characters that have a SSS or other type of map in a shader channel that has veins on it, but they are not showing up in the render. Which shader sliders to I adjust to make them visable? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I think that effort of painting veins onto translucence maps is wasted. I have yet to see them actually produce any sort of effect.

The only time i have seen veins show as anything other than bumps in the mesh, is with Sickleyields product for G2M and I am not too sure how she did that... but I am pretty sure it wasn't with translucence.

In the surfaces tab, select Skin.

Base, Translucency and Transmitted are likely to be a red of some description; turn them white, and see if that works. If any others are red, then maybe do those too; any that are blue, can make a character even paler, but for Daz 4.8 it actually corrects an error in that has been fixed in 4.9.

Doing this will make the skin very pale, so change back until you are happy.

Basically, in real life, the veins show up much more where the skin is very pale, so it does reflect what happens in general.

Seems changing the Translucency and SSS tint to a lighter color brings out the veins, but then the skin is  very strange looking. Like E.T. did when he died. Yea, have to keep moving sliders darker to get it right. Thanks.

    Glad you got it working.

Oh and if you do it, you might need to check the nails and adjust them to be more in-keeping with the skin.
