Thanksǃ  Here are a couple more test renders with a lower hairline.  The first one also tries him out with an expression (a mix of Glare and Concentrate).

Hopefully you can see some of the difference in the angle on the face and where the top of the forehead is and how much longer your lower face is.  Don't forget the ears.

didn't want to go off topic, but gotta ask . . how did you do that Cris ?

I took the image of Gregorius' morph into Photoshop with a desaturated image of Chris Reeve.  I overlayed one over the other and lowered the opacity so you can see how they line up.

thank you, there is a model I just cant get the nose right, and cheeks, doing something like that might help me get her dialed in closer.

which is why I asked, I tried something like that but never could get it to work, seemed I just covered up the image with another, never had thought of desaturation  or doing anything like that.

I have Wertz's old Christopher Reeve Morph for M4 if that might help you with perfecting the Genesis morph. I alaso recommend looking at Superman artwork done by Gary Frank since his Superman resembles Chris Reeve alot. It helped me when I tried to work on a Chris Reeve Morph years ago .

Thanks for the extra reference pics, Sasuraibito.  It's been a while, but I've made what I hope are noticeable improvements to the morph.  What do you think?  Better?  Worse?

I think you are getting there. The nose needs to be a little thinner and I think his jaw is a little more curved, I also found some other pics of Reeve that might help.  So keep up the good work. smiley

Thanks again!  I think you were right about the jaw and nose, but I also did some work on the mouth.  Here are some test shots of the latest draft.

  • Looks a lot closer ☺
  • Time for another updateǃ  I think the morph might at least be approaching a final draft.  I did some work on his cheeks and touched up his nose and lips a bit.  Right now, to my eyes, it looks like a significant improvement, but a second or third set of eyes is always helpful, so don't be shyǃ

I thought you were modeling but that you are only using dials makes your work even more impressive. I think the Superman image at the end is the best.

You are getting so much closer to the real thing it is frightning!!!!

Seriously speaking if you could maybe tweak then skin a bit to make it just a tad darker it would enhance the over all look of Superman!!!

Actually the skin is good but the hair needs work to get that classic Superman look.

Thanks!  To be fair, there are a few custom morphs involved mostly around the brow and nose, but I think the vast majority of the overall look still results just from dial-spinning.

Yeah, Rievel Hair is the closest thing I've got, but it's not perfect.  I did manage to find a hair prop as part of a set that was deliberately designed for building a 3D Superman, and it's pretty much spot-on!  The problem is that, for some reason, it came with no transparency map (at least, none that I can find), so it would look woefully plastic and unrealistic.

Here's another couple of tests after what just might be the finishing touches.  All I did was tighten the lower cheeks a bit and add a bit of definition to the lower eyelids.  For some reason, my celebrity morphs always seem to look best in outdoor-style lighting.  I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not.

Well I knew the complaint about the skin tone not being dark enough was because you had bright indoor lighting. I think it looks great especially the outdoor render and the hair in the outdoor scene, but the eyes look too blood shot but be careful not to give them that visine eyes in a disco dancehall look.

I believe it is Uzilite's  hair prop Gregorius considered "woefully plastic and unrealistic" as it does not come with transparency maps.  I guess that depends upon how it's shot and lit.  Personally, I didn't think it was too bad when I tried it in this test render.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

BTW, that isn't meant to be Chris Reeve, just a personal, "square jawed" heroic face possibly leaning a bit more towards George Reeves, the star of the 1950s television adaptation.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

  • You do seem to have made the most out of Uzilite's hair prop, Redfern, so kudos to you!

After some final tweaks, I decided it was time to release at least a beta version of the morph, so here it is!
