Pose/rotation problems with original figure - rigging issues

So I've been rigging an original character and have just started running into some problems when rotating joints. For a start, the geometry isn't updating live. By this I mean that the base mesh doesn't deforn until after a bone has reached its new resting place (ie. dropping the left mouse button). In other instances the whole figure will rotate around whatever joint I'm posing, but snap back to the correct position once the mouse is released.

Here are some screenshots to demonstrate the problem. The problem has occured sporadically during several itterations of the modelling/rigging process but now it appears to be here to stay. Please, someone help!

In the Draw Settings pane under Manipulation set the Manipulation Binding to Full. Whether the lag shows up seems to depend on the model and its rigging - my (vague) impression is that it is most liekly to show when there are weighted vertices well away from the bone's bounding box.

Thanks Richard, that seems to have fixed the issue. I did go into the draw settings to switch the Iray manipulation setting down, so probably accidendly flipped a switch. I think the earlier probelms were probably down to weight maps.
