Daz 4.9 > Where to install TRX and DPC files?

Hello,

I want to install some people (Victoria...) manually. I'm using Daz 4.9.

Where should I install the TRX and DPC files coming with the installation bundles?

Can I just drag and drop them into My Public Library? At the root of this folder?

For now, I have no files in this folder, but only sub-folders. So I don't want to create a mes

Thanks a lot for your guidance.

Ideally you should use the Install Manager. TRX is TriAx - meaning a figure using the Daz Studio weight-mapping, pre-Genesis 3. DPC is the general code for a piece of content - it may mean it's in Poser format, but I don't think that is dependable  (unless you have one of each, trx and dpc, for the same product in which case I would epxect them to be DS and Poser respecitvely).

I confirm there is the Poser word in the DPC file name. So should I install only the TRX file or the DPC?

I'm not sure how to use the Install Manager.
So, where should I drag and drop the TRX (and DPC?) files? Please see my filder structure on the screenshot.

You probably don't need the DPC file then, but it's hard to be certain. Are these zips or installers?

  • Zip files.

Let's assume I don't need the DPC then.

So, coming back to my initial question: Where should I install the TRX files?
Can I just drag and drop them into My Public Library? At the root of this folder?

Assuming that's a DIM-ready zip it will contain a Content folder - it's the files and folder inside that Content folder that would need to be merged into the My Daz 3D Library folder (the Content folder in the zip is a placeholder for the actual content directory that you want to use).

  • Richard, sorry but I'm still confused.

All I have is a TRX file that is supposed to be a figure. It is 77,512K heavy.

    Where should I copy it?

I tried uploading a screenshot of my file folder several times in this post but the uploading does not work well (may be because I'm using the EDGE browser?).

Here is the structure of my folder:

User > Public > Public Documents > My Daz 3D Library
Under My Daz 3D Library, I have a bucn of folders like those:
    > aniBlocks
    > Animals
    > Camera Presets
    > data
    > DAZ Studio Tutorial
    > Environments
    Etc.

The only non-folder/file I have in "My Daz 3D Library" folder is: InstallManagerFileRegister.json

What exactly is the item you are trying to install?

    Richard you are beyond worthless.

Bro, it's an executable. Double click it.

Pay attention as the stand alone executable that the .trx is, if you go on reccomended mode it will try to install it to (Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Documents\My Daz 3D Library) when we want it to go where your library reall is (User\Public\Public Documents\My Daz 3D Library)

So hit the customize settings bubble and put the proper directory in. This will update some settings in the registry or somewhere because next time you do a .trx file it will remember the correct location under the Public. So do it once custom install, then you can do reccomended.

I am currently looking for a way to auto install .trx as the pro bundle has a crap ton of this.

I gues Richard wasn't completely useless as he was right about archives that have the form IM########-##_XxxxXxxxxXxxxxXxxxx.zip can simply be placed in

(Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads) following a refresh of the daz3d installation manager you will then be able to auto install,

    (IM00031301-01_BendControlforGenesis3Females.zip for example)

BUT AFAIK (because I tested it) the .trx stand alone applications do not work simply by placing them in the (Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads) directory.

I am looking into silent switchs for silent or unattended installations and will get back to this thread.

And still, to this day, nobody really says what a file with "dpc" in the name is?

    It's in this document:

    Understanding Content File Types

It says there: "'dpc': This means 'DAZ Poser Content.'  It can be used in Poser, Poser with DSON Importer, and Studio."
