hi all. i've 2 questions for you, i hope you can help me.
i've a geforce 8800gtx with 768MB VRAM and 128 cuda core, but in daz 4.9 don't work.
What could be the problem? if i set only gpu in render setting, i've no image. render in 0.5 sec with pic all black.
......and how convert a simply material for old clothing in meterial for iray? in addition, the shaders optimized for 3dlight, don't work corerctly with iray (only CPU)
sorry for my english.
i hope you understand me.
thank you
PS: i've a notebook with geforce 635M, 2GB VRAM , 144 cuda core , driver update, ......and with daz studio 4.9 , don't work !!! :-(

A fairly new and decent CPU will give better perfomance than the 8800gtx; and such a small amoung RAM means only the most simple scenes will fit. G3 is lower geometry than some of the earlier figures iirc, and with only one figure, no hair or clothes, or any background or other scene items, my card was using 1436MB. So whilst you might be able to get it down further by changing settings, it isn't really worth the effort.
The notebook might be a more viable alternative, but is is shared RAM, or dedicated video RAM? Again it will struggle to cope with such a system.
IRAY requires 64bit. Are any of them 32bit systems.
You need light within the scene, without it it will be black.
my pc is intel qx9650 extreme 3Ghz and 8GB ram. with 8800gtx 768MB
my notebook is a i7-3630QM , 16GB ram and nvidia GT 635M (4GB) 2GB dedicated + 2GB shared.
I think that shared memory does not operate the 635M with DAZ Studio. but I do not know how to cancel the shared memory and make the 635M with only 2GB
I want to change the 8800GTX with the GTX970 4GB , but I'm not sure it will work. I do not want to spend money unnecessarily and i don't by a new pc.
I'm just a beginner!
I'd be tempted to buy a card from a shop that would let you return it if it didn't work; I'd explain you situation. Many won't but some have good enough customer service to do it. I'd be wanting the promise of a refund in writing... Call me paranoid, I'm fine with that. :)
I doubt the MB would either work at all with the card, or only work in a limited way.
ok, mmmmm...... I downloaded octane render demo and my 8800 gtx don't work, so now, I'm sure this graphic card is too old for daz studio!
but the graphic card 635M work perfectly in octane render demo! Now I'm sure that shared memory in not the problem!!!
Any idea?
If it works with Octane, then it should really with Daz Studio. IRAY needs the 64bit version of Studio, I presume it worked in IRAY before the driver update; just to be clear.
I would wait until Nvida and Daz has Nvida 1060 video card support, this is a better card than buying older video cards(unless you get a really good deal). I would just render 3delight until the 1060 card support is sorted out.
no. when i bought the notbook, i installed daz 4.8 and it has never worked. I thought that everything would work with the new version (4.9) , but nothing
Is vthe notebook a 64bit processor and OS?
yes. windows 8.1 64bit.
daz 4.9 is 64 bit. when i select in render settings, the gpu only, render in 0.1 sec and no image. i saw some videos on youtube, but my pc don't load the scene in memory card.
this evening I try to reload the old driver of 635m. the driver of HP. now i installed the driver of nvidia. maybe the driver of hp are optimized for the notebook.
I don't know. but this is the last thing that comes to mind!
All versions of Iray for any platform require a CUDA compute level of 2.0 or better. Even cards such as a Quadro FX-5800 4GB VRAM isn't good enough.

this is the specification:
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-635m/specifications
this is in italian, but you can translate with google. i think the problem is nvidia optimus: automatic transfer from nvidia graphics and intel graphics.
http://www.nvidia.it/object/geforce-gt-635m-it.html#pdpContent=1
the 635m support CUDA, OpenCL, e DirectCompute 2.1
do you think it is ok?
The 635 GPU is nominally OK, the problem is likely the Intel and the amount of memory available to the 635. Many of the hybrid systems give problems. Check your DS Log to see if there is an error listed in there.
The 8800 is not going to work.

ok.
i solved with reset of nvidia graphic card with nvidia control panel , installed the last driver (with reset).
at this point nothing has changed, then i changed the performance of intel 4000 from quality to speed and battery to high performance.
as magic all work perfectly.
I don't understand!
now daz studio is five times faster.... more o less
Maybe, it can be useful for those who have my same problem.
thank you all.
