How do you troubleshoot and fix the PostgreSQL/CMS issues when it happens after using Daz?

edited August 2016 in Daz Studio Discussion

Ok so I have been using Daz Studio 4.9 for a couple months now.  Recently on one of my computers I started getting the PostgreSQL connection issue.

I confirmed that I have entries to allow Daz Studio traffic through the firewall.  I don't have security applications to cause issues.  Yesterday morning it worked.

I've tried reinstalling PostgreSQL from DIM (Both just uninstall/reinstall and Uninstall/remove package/download package/reinstall).  I have also not just assumed it would get on automatically and have tried both clicking the Start CMS and clicked the Login buttons in Daz.

Just to make sure I have even changed the port that the CMS was using.

I am at a loss as to how to fix the issue as well as what the underlying issue is.  I have not found anything in the Services or Processes that look to say they are PostgreSQL so I am unsure if the process is even running until I know for sure what the process displays as.

Is there any other known issues, troubleshooting steps, or in general things I forgot to get it back up and running?

Edit:  After more checking I found errors in the Event Log which seem to indicate that the PostgreSQL is getting an error when starting up.  I have found that there is a PostgreSQL admin tool with the intall but without knowing which exe to start up and what settings to connect to I can't really check on if there are errors.  I have taken and fully uninstalled the PostgreSQL and then deleted the folder before reinstalling but that didn't change anything.  I have confirmed that the last system update which could have caused an issue was 20 days ago.

Solution Found:  I checked in the CMS settings and deleted the folder in that section and allowed everything to be rebuilt.  That seemed to work.
