GoZ-like workflow for other modeling tools

I haven't invested in Zbrush, but I am finding an increasing desire to do small corrective morphs to figures or clothing that has already been parented and posed. I know how to make morphs starting from the t-pose, but I can't figure out how to get exported .objs to import as usable morphs after the figure's been posed. Anyone have suggestions what I might be doing wrong? Is this even possible without a bridge software?

GoZ is definitely a good workflow for this.  This might be helpful.

Another PA in another thread confirmed what I was thinking, and that's to use reverse deformation if you're using a posed figure (in Morph Loader Pro).  If you use GoZ, you don't need to do this.

Do use GoZ for corrective morphs, way way simpler and faster.

    All you need to do:

    Character, posed, press GoZ.

Dialog: export with deformation checked. You'll get the posed character in Zbrush.

Morph away in ZBrush. GoZ to Daz when finished morphing.

You get a dialog popup, typically it is Update Geometry > Create Morph already checked for you (there're auto-generated parameter settings below, including Reversed Deformation: YES) but ignore all this which can be adjusted later, and just click ACCEPT.

Nothing seems to happen. Character in viewport won't show new morph, yet.

Go to Parameter and find the (new auto-generated) ZBrush group, you'll see a new slider 'ZBrush Morph' at 0%. Turned it up to 100% you'll see your corrective morph now showing on your character.

Do the rest of your dial settings adjust, ERC and morph saving etc.

GoZ is a cleaner workflow. I import 100% new figure/ prop, or make Genesis/ clothing morphs all the time. Unless I'm redoing UV I don't even need to export OBJs from ZBrush to Daz. Haven't needed to use Morph Loader Pro so far.

  • Yeah, the point was that don't have Zbrush and would rather not buy it if I can avoid it. I'm comfortable with Blender's tools already and would rather use them.
