Installing DS4.5 and Poser files

I have read several times that even tho you are running Daz Pro 4.5 and installing the ds version of files that you should still install the poser file version otherwise you may be missing files even in daz studio...is this information correct or not?

Thanks

Yes, sometimes, it depends. Sorry, that's not a very helpful answer but there has been no real consistency over the years - and one of the most helpful indicators, file size, is not currently available without downloading the files. However, in general if the DS installer is much smaller than the Poser it's a set of materials presets, or maybe saved scenes, and you need the Poser version for at least the textures and possibly for the basic models. If the files are about the same size, and it isn't a PC item, then you probably don't need to install the Poser file - unfortunately for a long time PC products put the textures in both installers even though the Poser version was needed for the models, so equal sizes doesn't always mean that the Poser version is unneeded. If you run the DS installer and check the file list that should give an indication - if there are .daz files (or .duf files for newer items), and a \Data folder, and a bunch of image files in \Runtime\Textures then the Poser installer is unlikely to be needed.

Why? We should not have to install Poser content to make D|S content work right.
