How do I animate and keyframe in DS4.9?

How do I animate and use keyframes in DS4.9? I want to do an animation but I know how to do keyframing in Poser but not DS4.9. What do I need to have or do to do animations? I am not sure what I am doing so I end up not doing keyframing.

First of all - make sure you have the Timeline bar open, so you can see your timeline. On the timeline in the lower-left corner you can find the Total number of frames (how many frames there are in the animation) and its range (Frame 0 is the very first frame of the animation). The lower-right corner shows you the Currently selected frame (the one you are in at the moment) and FPS (Frames per Second) shows how fast the animation will go.
To make an animation, you simply select one of the frames on the timeline and change something there. That creates a Keyframe for THAT SPECIFIC ELEMENT (like, if you move the hand, a keyframe will be created for the hand). You can also use the "Create Keyframe" button located at the center of the panel that contains different options. (hover your mouse over them - they will show descriptions).
You might want to buy these two plugins though:
KeyMate
GraphMate
They will help immensly with Keyframe animation - they simply show you where keyframes are and how they are organized and show you the motion curves. Super helpful.
Does this answer your question?
As Thomas wrote KeyMate and GraphMate currently are the first thing you should look into.
Scene position values like translation, rotation, scale, camera values and morphs are animatable with keyframes.
Nevertheless you may find out that it will not be possible to animate certain material related paramters because support has still not be added to the DAZ Studio API to add keyframes for every single DAZ Studio, Iray and plugin parameter to the native timeline.

If you are looking to create keyframe animations with material parameters your option is the OctaneRender plugin for DAZ Studio.
Examples:
- change light / texture power
- change light / texture color
- change any material attributes like glossiness, subsurface scatterring
all during animation

Or use mCasuals mcjMatAnim / mcjTexAnim scripts.....
