Eyes Popping Out - Saving as fbx

Hi,

I have just recently purchased my first Daz3D character (one of many I am sure). The character is a Toon character named 'Cookie'.

The problem I am having is when I have set her up and try to save her as a .fbx file her eyes pop out of her head and look unnatural. I can see the eyes pop out of her head briefly when I am saving and then go back to normal again, however when I open her up in 3dxchange her eyes are popped out of her head . I have spent hours trying to work out the problem, unfortunately without success.

Any help on how to overcome this obstacle would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

I posted a similar thread on New Users and realized that this is the place I might find the answer I am looking for.

I bought the Toon character Cookie from the shop as my first purchase for my project. Everything was going fine until I tried to export an fbx file to 3Dxchange. When I open up the file there the eyes are popping out of her head (see attached screenshot).

I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to fix this without any success.

Asking for help from here is my last resort and I would be so disappointed if I was unable to rectify this problem as my whole animation project is using Toon characters like Cookie and I want to purchase more, however I am hesitant to do so just at this moment.

If any experts or the developers of these characters can assist me with this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Merged threads and moved to Daz Studio Discussion, which seems the most appropriate. You can move a thread by editing the first post and changing the forum assignment at the top.

It may help to post your settings in the FBX export options dialogue.

    Hi Richard,

Thank you for your direction. Just joined so still learning the system.

Attached is a screenshot of my FBX settings when I am trying to export.

  • Oh, I know that issue. I had the same thing when I was converting it from a Poser model to a DAZ Figure and updating her rig.

Anyway, that is not a bug. Her eyes are simply those spheres and they use a "Magnet fit" apparently to shape them into the one you see in DAZ. You pretty much cannot fix that easily. I was actually working on a fix for that, but had other projects.

Yeah... you will not have an easy fix with that I am afraid.

    Thanks for your reply Thomas.

Cookie actually exports fine as a OBJ file but unfortunately I can't change her to a 'non standard character' in 3DXchange in that format to be used in iClone. Hopefully someone knows something (fingers crossed) as my project has stalled. My first ever purchase with Daz3D, so a little bit disappointed.

  • That's because as an OBJ files it does not keep any data outside of current position of vertices. That's how you can export an OBJ file of a morphed figure and keep all the morphs working.

Also, what you bought is a CR2 file - its a Poser Figure. Usually you would buy something from the Genesis line, which is native to DAZ and does not have such problems.

That said - I'll have to check the stuff I was working on. Maybe I can create a corrective morph for you there that will fix the eyes. Does iClone accept DAZ morphs though?

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks so much for your reply and trying to help me out. I have spent another full day on it today trying everything possible without any luck at all.

I can use Daz morphs in 3DXchange before converting to iClone. I had my heart set on using the characters Chip, Gumdrops and characters such as Star as well for my project. I already have my Toon set built and ready to go. Now I need characters. I really do hope this is not a lost cause.

If I interpreted what you wrote correctly the Toon Genesis characters such as Sam, Sadie and Kimberely won't have this problem with the eyes, right? They are .DUF files so I guess I can export them into 3DXchange.

Once again, thanks for your help!

  • Any character that is on a Genesis Base should work correctly I believe.

Although Cookie is probably a lost cause here. I checked what I was working on, but my workaround cannot be shared, as its a converted Cookie figure. You'll have to do with other Toon characters.

Thanks a lot Thomas for all your advice! Yeah I will go with other Toon characters from the shop.
