Necklaces, Bracelets, (Ear)rings and stuff...

I'm constantly looking for nice Jewelry for G3 (male and female). There are not many jewelry products as far as I found out... of those that are there I bought what I can use, but still... there's mostly big stuff and not to much variability. For example: Fabiana's Bettines Secrets for V4, I'd love to have those for G3. What I am looking for mostly are contemporary everyday things. Not to big, not to exclusive. I know there's much that can be done with shaders, but that doesn't give me more forms. Scaling helps with size, but doesn't always look good.

'older' Examples:

and things like these also :)

Especially with the low down neckline of shirts, necklaces would be much appreciated :)

These are just examples, that doesn't mean I want exactly those for G3... I just looked through the store to see if I could find something to about show what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

I need a cross for a necklace, it can be simple but both, necklace and cross should have some morphs, bend forward, sidewards, up and down (over head)

  • This is a nice versitile set for Genesis 3: http://www.daz3d.com/jewelry-basics-for-genesis-3-female-s. And it includes a morphing chain necklace that various pendants, including a cross, could be attached to

Yes, I have it, and I would recommend it, too; it is very useful and nice. I like it that this set contains 'the whole set' - earrings, necklace, bangles and rings.

  • Yah... I bought this set as soon as it was out... and it is lovely and in use... but I'd still like to have more options and different styles, especially with the charms on the necklaces...

So you'd like a pendant expansion for it then?  (I already covered rings..  Soonish)

  • I'm unsatiable I want everything *lol*

What I want most is jewelry that isn't in the "statement jewelry" section. so... not to big and not to expensive looking (I love me some pearls, diamonds and such as much as the next blinglover, but... I'd also like some simpler stuff, smaller (more discreet is maybe the right description? sorry not a native english speaker). Something along this line or this or a little bigger in size, but in many different shapes. And tribal style or... surferstyle... or whatever it is called...

so... just something to fill an 'empty space' (like a low neckline), but not an eye catche like so many jewelry items in the store are. They're pretty and cool and I'm sure they were a great deal of work in their creation process... I just don't see most of my characters wear them (or myself for that matter). And I think this is the most girlish I get in life when I say that I prefer to have a necklace that only I wear. I couldn't care less if someone comes in wearing the same cloths, but my jewelry I prefer to be unique and I'd like that for my characters too... (and not just for the girls ^^) That's why I ask for more on the everyday aisle, since the statement aisle is rather long and very well stuffed.

yeah... I don't know if any of that makes any sense to you. I hope it is an understandable an useable answer.

And I'm already keen to see the rings :)

Yep, you make complete sense. =)  One of the options from Jewelry Basics is close to your 2nd example, I don't remember anything like the first one.

Making actual chain links is >super< hard, not so much in modeling (though it's not easy, that's the least of it) but getting it to not warp or have the links separate when morphs are used on the figure is a nightmare.  That's why I almost always make chains that are solid like snake, box, or leather cords - smoothing and collision can be used on that type of mesh and mild streching is unnoticable making use on unsupported shapes work a whole lot better.  With Daz releasing a new girl every month chances that someone will use my products on shapes that I litterally couldn't make custom morphs for is very high.

Anyway..  what you're asking for is my style so no sweat.  =)  The rings go both ways, some are more fancy and some more basic but all of them would look normal on a receptionist.  The majority of the men's rings are big and chunky but men generally wear big rings when they wear them at all, still styles that you would see in an office with the exception of one that's more old-school.

  • I don't even want to know how much abuse vendors can get from people who use their products on characters they were not created for or in a wrong way... and I hope I don't unwittingly add to that abuse ever. So I very much understand that you're not making something where problems with posing are inevitable. When I first learned to use DS correctly I did so with help of a german Board called Daz-Schule (Daz-School). We had to try and make our own jewelry out of primitives and ever since I did that my respect for every content creator grew a lot... working on a neck where so many different movement comes in to play when a character is posed must be kind of a nightmare.

As for the chainlinks... they are not important. It's more style I'm looking for... so a solid one will do just fine... and leather is very welcome :)

Yes... the guys I know would rather go big or not at all too...
Out of interest... does it work to have a flat signet ring and put on the actual signet with texture and displacement? Of course a ring that's actually styled to have the signet on it will look better, but I'm curious :D

And thank you for taking the time to answer here :)

Yeah, the signet ring in jewerly basics is like that, you can add whatever you want to it.  And one of the upcoming men's rings has a design in mesh but it's on its own material zone so you can turn it off and put something else there if you want.

  • Oh... I hadn't even looked at that so closely... Thank you!

I have a cord necklace for M4 by FK Design I can use on g3f and some charms for it as props, also crosses, the thing is that I loos the handle of the cord running it through auto fit and so I can`t move it, I just can adjust the charms (hanging forward and sidewards and so) So what would be helpfull is a simple cord necklace with morphs for up/down, left/right and so and an option to parent props at the end. The cord should look like shown in the image, it has to have a metal ring to which the props can be parented. The cord should have to mat zones and should be for Iray and 3Delight.

That's how the one in Jewelry basics chain is done, I put the bails on the pendants instead of on the cord but it's the same idea.  It does have an extra "anchor" bone to parent the pendants to that would get lost in auto-fit but the morphs would still be there so it doesn't really matter.
