recovering content thumbnails that are not in any category

I had some newly installed content in Default > Unassigned (I'm running DS 4.8), but it suddenly vanished.  I was distracted for a moment and I'm not sure if I accidentally deleted or moved it or not, but in any case it is gone from unassigned, and apparently now belongs to no category at all.  (see screenshot, I picked a random file and searched for it and DS sees it... but it isn't categorized anywhere.

How can I force DS to put this recent batch of content (perhaps 4 products) somewhere so I can get back to it again?

If it helps, they are all in their own separate folders.  I have categorized an insane quantity of content since the last backup though, so I don't want to fall back to the backup.  (Due to the large number of content thumbnails in the collection of products, it would be somewhat impractical to manually search for then categorize each single file even though that is technically possible if nothing else works.)

Thanks for any suggestions!

If you do another Scan Known Directories For Files do they return to Unassigned?

    Nope.

I tried deleting the content folder, then putting it back and scanning for new content again, that didn't refresh it either.

nor did unmapping both the DS & poser content folders, scanning for new content, then readding and rescanning.

Have you Exported User Data recently (but before this happened)?  You could reset the database, re-import metadata, and scan again.

Not since the last round of mass installs.  Falling back to that would be a lot more work than manually searching for every content thumbnail in each of these 4 new products.

If there is no way to recover it, Is there any good way to get a list of every single user-facing file (I vaguely recall prior to loosing the content that it was a mix of newer and older DS content and poser content, with some overlap where I can trash the ds files or mc6 files or poser duplicates for newer duf, but don't remember which is what.  I can obviously manually look through each subdirectory, but I'm not really very familiar with the poser content organization and afraid I'll miss something and not know it.

I keep thinking there must be some way to force it to refresh, because I recall in the past then when you reinstalled content to a different folder or something you would loose all your categorization and it would all get moved back to unassigned, which in this particular case would actually be helpful instead of a problem.  There must be some way to trigger that, unless it was just caused by updated product files and not actually the install to a new location.

Unfortunately it appears the products are all too old to be organized by product name as well, so I can't just locate them there.

If you search for one of the filenames, does it find it?  If so, can you right-click on it and choose categorize to see where it ended up?

Yes, see screenshot in first post.  Even though it finds it, it didn't end up in ANY category, it's floating in a void (or not showing the category it's really in.)

Or maybe I forgot to attach the screenshot..  I don't see it in my first post (sometimes you can't see your own attachment, it might just be invisible to me).   Here it is again just in case:

Really strange, haven't seen anything like this in DS 4.8.  So if you remove the files for the products and do a Scan Known Directories, then put the files back and scan again, it doesn't put them back in Unassigned?

Correct, they stay in the mystery zone.

Got it.  (or at least one of them I was testing with, presumably this will work on the other folders too.)  I renamed the folder "Mean Streets for Genesis Male" to "Mean Streets for Genesis Male RENAMED", added it as a new pair of mapped folders, and now it shows up in unassigned.
