New Computer Help for Iray Rendering
![dmgalan](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/506/nXS5V3SJD1THE.jpg)
I'm not proud to admit that I'm pretty useless when it comes to hardware and specs. I'm trying to replace my old dying computer with something that will allow me to render single frame images (4000x4000 pixels) using Iray with reasonable speed.
Can anyone recommend some pre-built computer options/vendors? Or am I strictly looking at custom-built machines? If it's the latter, any help or suggestions on hardware/specs would be massively appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi, what country are you in? How much do you want to spend? What else are you going to use the Computer for? You don't need alot of computer to do Iray. What you need is a Nvidia 980 with at least 6gb of Video ram. If you are on a budget, you can go with 4gb version of a 980 but it really limits what you can render. What does the rendering is not how powerfull your PC is it is all Video card. So if you PC has a open Pcie slot all you may have to do is buy a video card and upgrade your ram. What is the name and model of your PC?
I live in the US. I wanted to buy a separate computer specifically for my 3D work. I would ideally like to stick to a budget of no more than $4K.
If you are not willing to build your own system,I would check Newegg or Dell and or Cyberpower. I would also check locally at a Fry's Electronics, They have good deals and they can install upgrades for you and build your system from scratch, and if you have problems just take it in to them. If you are willing to do a little youtube learning you can build your own and get a better machine for your money. I recently bought a Intel Xeon 8 core for $78 dollars that is 2.6 mhz and is better than my i7 3930k 6 core. The only problem is the socket 2011 X79 Motherboards are expensive and are only DDR3 memory. You, can create one great system for cheap if you are willing to get the parts together and build yourself just go on local craigslist and ebay and start accumulating parts. Otherwise, just go with one of the someone like Fry's that way you can upgrade when they have sales and they can install for you.
