Matching Face Texture Will Not Match Body in Daz

I made a custom skin in Photoshop. When I first applied it to a new figure all is well and everything matches. I take special care to make sure all settings are consistent as I go along including all spec, bump, normal maps etc.

I decided a couple days later to darken the skin after a few renders. In Photoshop I use adjustment layers and copy them across all 4 maps to make sure they all have the exact same changes. I applied the new maps and everything looks good until I get to the face. The face comes out pale and do not match the rest of the body. I checked over everything to make sure I didn't miss anything or made any changes by mistake. This is very frustrating. I searched around to see if this was a thing but I have yet to read any definitive fixes to this issue. Is anyone familiar with this problem and know what the likely cause is and how to fix or get around it?

If you didn't already, it might be worth saving your scene and restarting, as changes to your texture images don't always automatically update in the viewport.

  • If you are using Iray did you go into the Image Editor for each image and make sure the gamma values were consistent?

How do you do that exactly?

@Redz- Yes I tried that already. I did see many times that the texture in the viewport does not always update until restart. I even made new textures for the torso and head but still the face would not match. I guess the next thing to do is Richard's suggestion. I forgot to mention I'm using 4.8

    Thanks.

EDIT: I got back into the scene and applied the textures again from the original figure and now the textures are matching (Haven't been in Daz since last night). Maybe I had to restart my whole system? Strange....I would still like to know about the gamma thing though.

  • In the Surfaces pane, when you click the little tumbnail icon to open the image-picker menu, one of the options is Image Editor (not Layered Image Editor) - hat gives you options for tling, in Iray, and the image gamma setting.

  • @Richard Thank You!
