Looks pretty awesome! I keep wanting to make some more comic book inspired stuff. I need to learn how to use the Supersuit more. Can't wait for more add on packs for the supersuit!

Thanks! I too amd anxious to see what Randall has in store for us.... and also possibly what JoeQuick may do for Genesis!

I would love to see his Golden Age Set done for Genesis. It is quite awesome. :)

Been working away in ZBrush making clothing. Addicted to say the least. Got a mostly done Superman look going now. Boots, Superman Logo and Trunks (with separate zones for the belt, loops and buckle). Not posed but wanted to show what I've got going on. FBM is from my still to be released Bruno for Genesis pack.

    Nice boots!

Is the symbol a separate item or part of a map?

Yup, that's my morphing SuperLogo. Morphs into 5 shapes, each has their own UV's so everything looks correct. UV's will be included in the pack when it's released.

    Wow! Cool!

Can you morph it to make it larger or smaller but still adhere to the chest?

Haven't run those tests yet. If you mean like make it smaller and move it over to look like a badge on the left or right chest area probably not. The shapes are Superman's shape (default), round, oval and two shield's. You can see examples over at my Freebie thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/6841/P135/#286120

Started the cape tonight but it's late and I work tomorrow. Hope to have something going by weekends end, hopefully!

And I think Tim Hunter here is wearing the old M4 Classic Trench Coat (formerly available at Renderosity), I'm just going off of the crazy big button holes on the lapels.

WOW, it seems that Zatanna sports Assassin Angel more often than not, and the Enchantress is pretty often in the Assassin Angel top as well :D

I bet that Constantine wears your trench coat

I think his hair is either Wildmane or Billyhawk.

Looks like the bigger armor in the foreground is based heavily on the BEO Archangel.

Mindwarp's got the Hardcore jacket on.

EDIT: Constantine's coat is actually from Midnight Hunter.

Most of the other stuff is recognizable. I'm actually pretty ridiculously happy to see this. I'd be willing to bet a couple of those images in the lineup are almost straight renders.

It actually looks like some renders I've seen using ZBrush.

my money is still on good old fashioned tracing

The skin on all of them except Deadman looks rendered. I'd bet Zatanna is almost all rendering, the hair could easily be almost pure renders with bit of filtering, and I'd put good money on most of the facial feature work being a filtered render - most of the nice brushwork is just completely different there. Looks exactly like what I can get out of Photoshop with minimal work. A good deal of the male clothing and the inking on the clothes in general is pretty definitely traced though.

Personally I like the digital art renders meets Photoshop. Keeps the colors clean and the effects are really nice too. Funny, I still enjoy comics as much as I did when I was a kid. I'm currently in the middle of the Marvel's "War of Kings" thing. Lots of Trades to read through. I love the Inhumans.

Nothing like that. I've tried. :(

Once I finish messing with a hair shader I think I'll try to track down how to do nice outlines in 3Delight and see if anything sticks to Shader Mixer/Builder.

  • RKane_1RKane_1 Posts: 3,037

    That'd be awesome.

General rules of inking include objects closer to the viewer should be more heavily outlined with greater line variance. Objects in the background should have a thin line around them and little line variance.

Line weight (i.e. Thickness) should be greater on the side of the object with the greatest amount of shade.

This rule is, of course like all rules, made to be broken but its a good rule of thumb. Don't know how to make that happen in a shader but I ink so I know that.

It should be possible to tie such variations into the depth somehow. But I've never tried to do anything of the sort before, nor outlines, so we'll see where this goes.

Don't know if it was an exclusive thing.

So what would be the best means to commision somone to do their own concept costumes?

I know that asking works for me ;)

Whoa! :bug: This is all kinds of awesome; I love the lighting, composition and Norrin's pose :cheese:

Light and material test for Storm and Rainmaker.

Credits: textures from RoguePilot and Nadino, custom facial morphs by me.

Post-work: PS for Hair brushes, sharpen more and Red Paw Media's Bleach Bypass filter.
