Daz studio 4.9 corrupt and do not know how to fix

Something went wrong with my DS 4.9 64-bit version after I followed tut by SickleYield to install her files in separately created folders to find stuff easier. It's not her tut causing Daz to go corrupt, I think I've accidentally removed something inside Daz but not sure what. I've reinstalled daz completely but only data cloud appears in my daz connect library under documents, daz3d, studio. Rest missing! No my library!

Can you check if the folder setting in the Content Directory Manager still match with the folder settings of your installed content? i.e. the DAZ Studio Format and Poser format directories?

  • OK, so you have no ... Formats content directories other than the Connect virtual folder? A screenshot might help, as would a screenshot o Edit>Prefrences>Content tab>Content Directory Manager with the current sets expanded to show what is selected.

Richard, attached screenshots.  I wanted to re-install Genesis Starter Essentials when I have noticed the problem after the complete re-install of Daz.  Normally when I install I get the folders to choose where to install, but my library not showing.  This is when I went to check the folders under my documents and noticed nothing is there except only the 1 as seen in screenshot attached.

In the one screenshot you will also notice 2 extra folders I have created when I have followed the tutorial by SickleYield - one is SickleYield and the other zip archives.  This was done BEFORE the complete uninstall of DS.  These folders were deleted also before uninstall.  The folders doesn't exist anymore but yet it still appears in DS!

  • You still have those locations listed as theya re still un Daz Studio Formats in the Content Directory Manager - you can either selectg them there (the second and thrid entries) and click the Remove button or, if you've closed the dialogue, you can just right-click the folder names in the Content Library pane and remove them via the menu.

Do you have any content installed, and if so where is it?

I did not have any content installed prior to the initial message on this thread.  I had tried something out which seems to work but this is surely not the way to go about things! surprise

I had myself manually created/named a new folder under the almost empty DAZ3D/Studio directory, simply called it 'My Library' and also created new sub-folders: content, data, people, runtime

Then I installed now manually Gen Starter Essentials into those ... and Genesis with all relevant items shows up as should in DS interface. smiley

What other directories needs to be added under My Documents, Daz3D, Studio as now I have only 'My Library' and 'My Daz Connect Library'? Shouldn't there be more directories under Studio or are these 2 the only ones?

  • My Library in Documents, My Daz 3D Library in Public Documents and My Daz Connect Library in Documents are the defaults (for user, Install Manager and Connect content respectively). The Data, Runtime etc. folders should be added to those as you install content - you shouldn't need to do it manually.

You shouldn't have a folder named "Content" underneath "My Library".

Thank you for the feedback and advice.  I have no idea why there were no folders appearing in the correct paths since this was a full re-install which should have been done automatically but something just went wrong somewhere.  I can't remember the folder tree as I am not that familiar with Daz Studio.  It's also my 1st install of Daz Studio 4.9, previously used 4.8 version.

You shouldn't have a folder named "Content" underneath "My Library".

I assume "Content" is then directly in the Studio folder?

  • Sorry, I missed the Content folder - everything in that shoukld be moved to the My Library folder, the Data and Runtiem folders in particular need to be in the content diectory ("My Library", "My Daz 3D Library" or whatever yours are called) not in a sub-folder.

Thank you Richard.  I have just remembered that I have an older version of DS4 installed on my old 32-bit desktop computer which I have not used for some months and will go and have a look of the directory structure there also as reference.  Now working on 64-bit laptop. Thanks again for all the help!
