I have wanted to find a tut for this too. How about we have a rose modeling challenge and see what people come up with?

That would be a tough one.

A lot of flowers are complicated to do.

I think my flower will be very simple and toony though. :red:

    Would this interest you?

I made this in Hexagon as a test. Still needs some work and the center section which is easy.

I made this from 3 interpolated lines using double sweep.
    Welded
Copy, rotate the group staggering the group three times to get the full bloom
Grouped the four copies, copied, welded, sized and welded
    Thickened external slightly
    Smoothed
    Welded all
    3 duplicated roses in image

I can make a tutorial on how I did this if interested.

can't really see the rose from that pic.....lol
got a top view of a single one?
don't care if it looks kinda toony, just a reconizable rose..

maybe something like this metal rose?
google metal rose and youll get tons of them.

I do not use Hexagon, rather Carrara but if I wanted to make a rose
(no need, have nice ones others have made already for my renders)
I would make a petal and go from there, duplicating and slightly reshaping and joining them into a flower.
like the ones I used to make from royal icing to stick on cakes!

actually I now recall I used to make them out of crepe paper that way too!
funny how these things go out of fashion!

Wendy it seems great minds think alike; I made this rose the same way I'd make one for a cake. Now, to make a tutorial might take longer. I'm too sleepy to start anything else.

Just make one petal and then rotate, scale and adjust to make them look individual

That looks great Grendel Hex. This was actually fun and not as complicated as I thought it would be. Here is the tutorial for the rose I made, it's pretty much the one petal method. :)
