image editor gamma not working

Just wondering if i'm doing something wromg,

When i add an HDRI, i find some of them have the wrong gamma and need to be corrected, otherwise  the shadows are too week. We do have the abilty to change gamma, but it makes no dofference.

Running latest studio on OSX.

As far as I know gamma doesn't affect the amount of light from the image it just makes it match the gamma of the viewport to make it look right when used as a backdrop or sky. Setting it between 2.0 and 2,2 should make it look the same as it was when captured by the camera.

  • ok thanks, I was hoping it would work the same way it worked in Ocatne. For example in octane I can adjust the gamma of an HDRI image and effictivley increase the contrast thus making the shadows stronger.
