How to get rid of 4.9 confiuration error?

I installed the latest DS 4.9.2.70 a few days ago. I connected ok, but every time I open it I get the same message.

'Configuration of the system has changed. To use content installed using DAZ Connect, the content owner must re-authenticate'

I've tried connecting repeatedly, inputting my serial number, and choosing Work Offline, but the message appears every time I open DS. I have no other versions of DS 4 installed (I uninstalled the beta before installing the release)

Before I uninstall it completely and go back to 4.8, I thought I'd ask for suggestions. Also, does anyone know if there's a registry key I can edit to fix this?

TIA

mac

So you do actually connect before later selecting Work Offline? Is it forgetting your serial number too, or is that sticking?

I've tried it two ways, Richard

In Menu> Connect Login the Work Offline option is always grayed out, so I log in, then choose work Offline. If I re-open DS later on (when I'm offline), I get the error message.

If I try Help> Register DS, that gives me either Connect or Work Offline> Serial number. If I choose Work Offline, the serial number is always blank and I have to input it. If I choose Connect, I get the error message later on.

Earlier today I tried Content> DB Maintainence> Update Metadata and this evening I didn't get the error message, so that might solve the problem. I'll know tomorrow when I open DS.

  • I have had DS forget my serial number (and require revalidation) occasionally - but not every day. It's possible that whatever triggers my occasional hiccup (which I have told the devs about) may be happening on a regular basis to you - in which case the devs' odds of figuring it out are greatly increased. If it does happen again, please report it.

Well, as soon as I opened DS this morning I got the error message again, so updating metadata didn't help.

I'll submit a bug report before I uninstall it and go back to 4.8.

    Thanks for trying.

  • Is it asking for your serial number too, or just saying there's been a system change?

    Hi Richard,

have got the same problem for several months.
As far as I know, this problem appeared with the official 4.9.2.70 release. For some weeks, everything is fine, then it appears. Only telling that a configuration had changed and you should re-login. After doing so (with possible corruption of your PostgrSQL-CMS), for some weeks it keeps on being OK. But after several weeks (round 2 or 3) it appears again.

I thought it was already reported here somewhere in the depth of this forum.

    Hi Richard,

all users of 4.9 have that problem.

I'm sure, that at least one has reported it. wink

(see the discussions of the last month)

I submitted a bug report and I already have a reply. They said that using the login button on the Smart Content pane will solve the problem. (By the speed and tone of the reply, I got the impression that this is a common issue).

I've tried it and I'll see how it goes over the next couple of days.

Richard - No it doesn't ask for the serial number - just gives the error message every time I open DS. But if I go to the Register dialog, the serial number is blank (despite me having entered it multiple times previously)

  • Ah, I see - I thought you were getting the issue i occasionally have where launching DS doesn't - instead I get the request for a serial number/connect to Daz as if it's a clean install.

After logging in through Smart Content 2 days ago, I haven't seen the error message again. So it appears to be the correct way around the problem.

This may be fixed in a future version, but in the meantime, it might be an idea to add it to the FAQ.

Considering the regularity with which you seem to be suffering this problem, I think it's time that you consider that maybe, the source is not Studio, but rather something in your configuration/software on your machine, other than Studio?

    Hi mjc1016,

you should know it better, cause there were older discussions about this effect - even you being involved.
