New 3DL Technique that Gives Amazing Metalic and Sparkling Materials

I figured out a new technique for 3Delight that allows a material that has different mixed materials. (At least I think it's new). For instance, I used it to create textures for new products that I'm developing.

I used it to create a gold on matte green texture like these.

I also used it to create both silver and gold on a porcelain background, the gold on the tissue boxes, and the gold labels on the mouthwash, toothpaste and tooth gel.

As you can see, I can mix metallic with other materials. I realized that I could probably use just about any material with the metallics, from matte colors to shiny materials like the procelain, white plastic, and probably satins..

I then started experimenting on creating fabric materials. I first created a pattern of mirror stars on black matte material.

Here I rendered the same dress material in three different color environments to see the effect on the reflective stars.

Here's the same three renders with the backgrounds removed so that the reflectived colors are more apparent.

I then created a bump map so that the stars would tilt at different angles, similar to the way sequins do. I created a short animation with the bump map applied to the mirror material, then I added a rainbow effect to the mirror stars, and then I figured out how to create red, transparent "disks" out of the stars, giving me the ability to create what they call "embellished" fabrics.

I wanted to make the red disks more like beads, so I made a new bump map. When I increased the tiling, it turned out looking rather like a sequin dress. I also made V4's torso a silver material so that the transparent beads would shine brighter.

Then I started playing with colors for the beaded dress.

I will keep experimenting to see how far I can push this technique and then decide how best to use it for new product(s).

This will be a lot of fun smiley but I have to put it on the back burner for now because I need to finish the products that I'm currently working on.
