Amazing stuff, very much looking forward to it.

I have SOME dinosaurs, though I'm not sure if any of them are properly Mesozoic. Heh.

Well the Mesozoic includes all the major dinosaur time periods (Jurassic, Cretaceous and Triassic), so basically will fit all the dinosaurs you may have!

Any chance that the VUE version will be available as TPF plants somewhere?

Yes indeed, there is also a full environment, both Iray and 3Delight, with proper terrain and vegetation placement.

These look great! It's been fun letting the dinos rampage urban environs, but it will be cool to finally have some natural environments for the menagerie.

  • Seriously good looking!  Unfortunately my hobby fund took a serious hit over the past month, so I'll have to wait a bit.  But wow!

What is the scale of the environment - length, width and tallest trees?  So I can get a better idea of how my creatures will fit.

Thanks, the terrain is 50mt. x 50mt., the tallest trees (Araucaria's), about 16 meters. The environment provided (both Iray and 3DL) add random scales to vegetation up to 150%.

Good use of instances, AM... I'm rendering the environment now.

It's tricky, in Iray, to have complex scenes given the number of texture files and memory limitations. That said, you get what you pay for!

Ok, I'm not sure this TOTALLY shows off the full capacity of the product, but...

Also, reminder for those working in 3DL: do not subdivide the primary object that's being instanced, or none of the objects will cast shadows. They must remain in Base resolution.

(Which is incredibly annoying and unlikely to be fixed)

Things don't look like they are going to end well for one of them....Nicely done!

  • Cool render Will!

I love that plant in the foreground; they are something I noticed when I first moved to the west coast.

It looks amazing as usual. What dinosaur models were used in the promos?

Post edited by Charlie Judge on
  • Thanks for the kind words. Except the render with the sarcosuchus where I used my crocodile model with a specific morph done on purpose, all the other models are from dinoraul: dalong, microraptor, stegosaurus, nigersaurus, pteranodon, anhanguera.

Important reminder! If you are using Iray, REMEMBER TO CHANGE INSTANCING OPTIMIZATION TO MEMORY.

You really need to do that with any instance-heavy render.
