More accurate storefront pictures/descriptions for products

I'm sure this issue has been raised before, but it's something that has always bothered me about the Daz Store.
I am a long time user of Daz3d products, I started with the very first version of Poser, and got up to around Poser 8, then I switched and started using Daz Studio full time.
I have probably purchased hundreds and hundreds of products from Daz3d over the years and have been generally pleased with the quality and assortment of all the products.

But every time I come to the store to search for a specific type of product, whether it's hair or a sci-fi uniform, or skin textures, I find it very confusing when browsing through
the store and looking at all the product preview pictures.  There's a picture of a female with long beautiful hair, wearing a beautiful costume, standing in a beautiful setting.  And the name of the
product is something vague like Jessica's Desire or something like that.   So what is the product selling, character maps?  makeup?  body morphs?  hair?  hair textures?  It's really anyone's guess.
When browsing through hundreds of preview pictures, trying to find hair or any specific thing, you have to click on each picture and read the description of what the product ACTUALLY IS!
This does NOT make for a pleasant shopping experience.   And this is coming from someone who has spent many, many hours browsing the store.

One suggestion I thought of, is to make the image black and white, and only colorize the actual product.  So if  you're selling hair, the body, clothing, and background will be in B&W, only the hair will be in color.
That would greatly speed up the process of looking for a specific type of product.   I realize that would be hard for certain products, like body morphs, but for the most part it would help on many products.

I realize this would require extra work for the vendor, and a total revamp of the store's preview pictures.  But I think in the long run, it would help power-buyers like myself in finding the correct product more quickly, instead of clicking on a product that I thought was a costume, only to find out it's just a texture set for that costume.  How many times has this happened to you?   And I know the store has it's categories, and DAZ3D tries it's best to place the products in the correct categories, but even when I narrow down products using the advanced search features, it still leaves a lot of guess work when looking at the product's main preview image.

  • Theer are categories for things like hair, characters, and wardrobe - use the key words across the top of the page, just under the header.

  • I find this to be a bigger problem at other stores, to be honest. Most vendors here seem to generally indicate most of this information; new vendors may not, as would also be the case with product originally sold elsewhere.

But...with no way to sort them, for example, in sale categories like the Christmas week freebies.  I completely agree with the OP.  Is it really so hard to add a couple words, like "Hair for G3F", or "Texture Set"?

Yes, for that 62 page list of freebies - I'd like to from just that list drill down to only dinosaurs, the mammals, the fish, then insects, then birds, then furniture, and not using some cludgy addon that is a security risk.

Not sure about your b&w pictures solution, but certainly something needs to be done as searching for the products you want is increasingly difficult. The current search system is woefully inadequate. Day by day new items are added and so day by day the problem gets worse.
