How do I change the white box or remove it as cant find where to do this

The white box is showing the area that will render - you can change the render, and so box, shape in Render Settings or, if you don't mind not knowing what will be outside the render, you can turn the Aspect fram (its official name) off in the Viewport option menu - the lined button in the top corner.
