Converting G3 Poses to G2! IT WORKS!

  • More than that, I spent lot of time to create a structure that allows you to re-use most part of that code to do whatever you need. For example, I used it today to make a G3/G8 morph converter, and I converted 4500 morphs in 96 seconds! You could even use it to create a skin converter!

There's also a "plugin" system that allows you to support every model you need...

Woah, woah, woah--4,500 morphs in 96 seconds?!! Skin converter?!! I hope you'll share again when you can. That sounds amazing.

    Well color me interested.

  • Well, skin converter is far above my math knowledge + It would be pretty slow using python. Still, It's possible^^ I hope for it too! G3/G8 morph converter (only tested on females for now) is already working. That was pretty easy because G3/G8 are very similar. That will be much more complicated for G2... but no luck, that's the one I need :(

I know no code, but in using GenX, it seems that a lot of it is based off of clone shapes and the need to dial in the clone along with the morph. For example, if I want to convert a G2 morph to G3, I dial in not only the converted morph, but also the G2 shape for G3. Don't know if that may help. (And ppl who are more knowledgeable, feel free to correct me/use the right terminology.)

Also, maybe I'm just over-excited right now, but just wanted to say--you're the best!! Thanks for sharing what has to be one of the best freebies EVER.

  • Thanks so much! In fact, I already tried to do that last years and I broke my teeth on it^^ you're right, there's no other choice than using clones, which obiouvlsy complicates your life. but I had an other problem too : G2/G3 geometries are too different, so the global result was ok, but there was a huge mesh distorsion that you sadly can't manually fix, so conversion has to be perfect at once! for G2/G3, I re-used the same idea and it worked immediately because they already are kind of clones. I know that's possible, (everything is, after all^^) but not for me right now. The other solution is to manually write the map, but it would take so, so much time...

  • Well, I know that ppl will still love a G3-G8/G8-G3 morph converter that works quickly! The other methods work fine, but not nearly as fast...

I wonder if the custom map tool would work to create a map to go from The hivewire dog to daz8 dog?

  • @k886860_25e3912525 : sorry, I wanted to add an option to get the root bone transformations, but for a reason I don't remember, that was too much work..

@dkgoose: Yes, the tool allows you to convert anything to anything. You could even convert from dragons to V3, even if that doesn't make any sense^^. The thing is that the doc I wrote is really lite, so ask me if you have any question about it, I'll try to properly explain you how does it work!

One more thing to know: there's not any debugger, so it will take you a bit of time to create a working map.

    thanks i really need this

  • Oh man! This is the BEST! I have a TON of new sets and cool things which, when I purchased them, I thought "Well, I guess the poses are just wasted, here... such a shame..."  Because I have characters built out of G2 (And there is no real way of making a G3 or G8 LOOK the same...), so I haven't had any real drive to upgrade my G2s.   This is GREAT!  I suddenly have access to all of these poses that I purchased but never thought I'd ever have use for! Thank you so much!

  • I Totally agree with you: Poses are datas that i will never buy because not so usefull for me, but once you got one, too bad to not use it^^

Thanks again everyone for your feedbacks!

  • Hello perfect work . Only little thing, is it possible to add support for animations ?

When i try convert animations it export only first frame :( .

    Thank you

    Does that work on animations?

  • I tried this method and I got an error. I'm using Daz Studio 4.21. Any suggestions?

  • This DOES not work at all.

If anyone has a working solution to convert a genesis 3 pose to GENESIS 2, I'd be very thankful. The script in the first post can not run and has many errors!

  • I am currently working on a G8F to G1 pose transfer script. I have not done G3->G2. Can add it to the list if you want. It may be possible to use n_Alexandru's script either in the freebies here or Renderosity.

    I have done a few transfer scripts, those being G1->V4, G1->G8F/M, G2F->V4, G2F->G8F, G3F->V4, G3M->M4, G8F->V3, G8F->V4, G8M->M4, G8->G9, M4->G3M, M4->G8M, V3->G3M, V4->G3F, V4->G8F.

    Regards,

    Richard
