M4 Anatomical Elements as a Genesis 1/2/3 prop

I have been using a prop based on the M4 gens (it is well known here and produced by a PA who currently sells here in the DAZ store too). I prefer it to the DAZ geograft models because, a) it doesn't leave a hole when switched to invisible and b) it costs a lot less than buying multiple Pro Bundles just to get tha DAZ gens.

It can be parented to any of the Genesis generations with a little delicate maneuvering so long as it is not "fitted" to the host body. The problem I have is with textures. The product sells with a range of skin tones which can be adjusted to something close to the hip skin but never really exactly so there is always a tell-tale join. The best I have managed is to convert M4 skins and use the vendor supplied M4 Genital texture but that is very limiting in terms of available characters. So my question is this: Is there a way to transfer a G1/G2/G3 genital texture on to the M4 Gens? Could I, for example, paint it on in Blender or Photoshop? I haven't tried and I don't have my computer available where I am right now but any how-to hints would be welcome.

  • Hi, Marble. This is what you want. (https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/blacksmith3ds-texture-transformer/101170) This program will transform your M4 textures that work with M4 genitals so you can add them to genesis 2 and if you want to convert to genesis 3 (https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/m4-to-g3m-add-on-pack-for-texture-tranformer/113499) I've used this program in the past if you need to do some 3d painting or morphing just forgo purchasing texture tranformer and buy the full 3d blacksmith program it comes with texture tranformer built in but you will still need the add on packs.

    Hi, Silver Dolphin

Can you show how to convert M4 genitals to G2M/G3M?

I get "OBJ file mismatch" error when converting M4 genital cr2.

This is not exactly what I'm trying to do. Sort of the other way round: I want to use G1/2/3 AE textures on the M4 prop. So I know that Characters like George, for example, come with AE textures but these are meant for the DAZ geo-grafted AEs which come with the M7 Pro Bundle. I was hoping it could done without too much outlay in terms of expensive new software like ZBrush or even the Blacksmith program.

  • Ok, I was under the impression that you wanted textures for Genesis 2 or Genesis 3 that could work with M4 genital starting with base M4 textures. Texture Converter will only work for converting Main M4 skin that has a genital matching skin already created. It will make you a Genesis 2 or 3 torso conversion but not a genital conversion. This program does not work in reverse. If you want to use G3 and G2 skins and have M4 genitals you will have to use the torso and face texture to create the genital textures from scratch in either Photoshop or GIMP.

I don't believe you can. The program only works on main body not addons like genitals. I would contact Blacksmith3D via site mail at Renderosity and ask for this feature.

I'm probably not explaining myself well so I'll try once again:

    1. I have a prop based on the M4 genitals which I usually parent to G1/G2 and possibly G3 in future.

    2. The prop comes with skin tone textures ranging from very light to very dark but it is difficult to match perfectly.

    3. Genesis 1 Male, G2M and G3M all have several characters which provide AE textures.

    So,

    4. I want to be able to transfer those AE textures on to the prop. They are already AE textures so I would not need to use the face or other body parts.

As I mentioned in the OP, I don't have access to my computer at the moment so all I'm asking is whether it is possible and perhaps a tip on how to do it in either Photoshop or Blender.

    I suspected it.

Using this method, you can bake textures between a pair of similar objects...it's just a matter of setting up the object pair to bake from/to.  Some things are easier than others.

Wow that does look daunting but I'll read it carefully and have a go when I get the chance. Thanks for pointing out this tutorial, it could come in useful again for other issues.

Oh, yeah that is a photoshop or gimp project. It should not be too much work if they already come with premade genital textures just make a UV map for that M4 genital prop and take the new genital textures onto it and make corrections and it should work just fine.

Thanks, I think I have an idea how to do that. I'll get to it when I have my PC back on my desk.
