How do I get rid of this "border?!"

I'm sure I've asked this question before. I just can't remember the answer, or even really how to describe the problem. I got this border around my document window. I can't use my cameras, etc. How can I fix it?!

It's one (or all) of the panes along the top besides viewport that causes it. If you close all of them, it will be formatted correctly again. It might just be one of them, but I can't remember which one is the culprit.

Edit: I just tested it, and I think it's Shader Mixer.

I'm not quite sure what you meant. But I closed all Windows, and the problem still exists. Here's another image.

  • Hmm, well, now I'm not sure what you're talking about either. It didn't look like you had your camera controls before, but now it looks like you do.

Are you just talking about the aspect frame? If so you can turn it off by clicking the drop down box in the upper right of the view port and selecting it in the menu that drops down.

Bingo!!!! I de-selected Show Aspect Frame, and it's gone! Thanks!

The aspect frame is showing you what is "on film" when you have an aspect (16:9, for example) selected. This is independent of wether you have a camera selected, or not.

By default,.it gives you a ratio of 4:3, which is usually pretty much covering the entire viewscreen, but if you select another aspect ratio in the render settings, you'll see how it changes. Under "Dimension Presets", there's a setting "entire viewscreen", which has about the same effect as turning off the frame.

The aspect ratio setting comes in handy when you want to make sure that what you want in the image really is in the image, buzt for other purposes, it sometimes can interrupt the workflow a bit.

BeeMKay, thanks for the info. I must have accidentally selected Aspect Ratio. It seems I have this same accidental problem once a year or so, and never remember what caused it!

You don't like seeing what area is going to be rendered?

That view interfered with my other functions. Besides, I believe I usually get the entire picture in every ender.

    Hi Ron

I just tested this and the render is always cropped to the Aspect Frame, whether it's visible or not.

    Thanks, Prixat.
